Maybe. The vote was a non-binding referendum on what people would prefer the status of PR to be if not a commonwealth. The majority vote was to not stay a commonwealth and the majority preference would be to become a state. There's still a lot of work to happen before statehood.
Because they aren't really independent events. If Ohio went in a landslide to either candidate, it most likely would have an underlying cause that would also affect other states. Sure, the votes are collected independently, but whatever causes people to vote one way or the other is interconnected.
What kind of disaster plan is it that doesn't account for a likely disaster? I can guarantee that...
There were 47 storms to hit New York last century. Of those, only the storms of 1936, 1944, 1954, 1971, 1976, and 1996. Of those, the only storm which caused the New York subway system to flood and caused significant damage to Manhattan was in 1971. So a couple times a century is not a likely disaster -- most of these storms do not result in the level of devastation seen here.
a couple of times a century is definitely a likely disaster. Would you not plan for an event with a 2% chance of occuring every year?
"Dyke" is also an alternative spelling of a water control dam or levee. I believe there is a story about a Dutch kid that sticks his finger in a dyke to stop a leak. The original post could easily be taken for a joke about glow in the dark holes to make it easier to stop leaks, or you could take it as some kind of markings for Dutch lesbians angle like you did.
Save your anger for when someone actually does say something offensive. You will get a better response when people don't think you're overly critical about a joke.
I'd be more interested in them finding a way for the roads here to not lose an entire lane of traffic for 6 months. Once the lines get covered with snow and ice its a free for all that usually results in one less lane of travel.
It would only be useful for few days of the year freezing conditions. Anywhere with more prolonged winter will have snow and ice buildup covering anything painted on the roads. The summary mentions a lot of other things that are unrelated to winter driving and would be beneficial anywhere.
I haven't owned a car since a 1994 Ford Ranger that didn't have this kind of warning. I think it is fairly standard now. The article is talking about freeze warnings painted onto the road surface.
I find it terrible that MS would intentionally limit the memory limit on lower tiers of their OS. Do they really imagine there's someone out there with over 128GB of RAM that will be swayed into getting the Pro version to use it all?
The $40 upgrade deal is also going to get me to drop XP on some machines. The traditional Windows pricing has discouraged me to ever upgrade machines, its a huge chunk of the money that could go to a new machine with the new OS. $40 on the other hand for the Pro version, that's just nice.
But there is a start button, it is just a popup in the corner that opens a start screen that is full screen. Hitting the windows key will also popup the start screen. From the start screen you can just start typing the program name and it will show you search results.
There probably isn't enough difference to upgrade from Win 7 unless you really want the new UI. If anyone has XP and didn't upgrade to Win7, now might be a good time to go to Win 8.
This is a specious argument. iPhone's may sell better than any single other smartphone manufacturer, but the smartphone OS of Android outsells the smartphone iOS. I'll leave it up to everyone else to figure out which is more important. It's a perfect flame war starter as both sides can make a valid claim of being better here.
Disclaimer: It took me all of 5 minutes with a mouse and keyboard to figure out Win 8. I didn't see any issues, but I can see how other people might have trouble.
So, If Microsoft is making an OS to solve a chicken & egg problem for touch displays, are they saying that mouse and keyboard is not the preferred input?
My Laptop has a multi-touch screen and Windows 7 doesn't cut it
Prove you're not lying. What touch screen laptop comes with W7? You're insulting our intelligence.
Windows 7 doesn't cut it, Hard to click small icons, zooming is choppy...
Odd, I don't have those problems on my small W7 laptop or my kubuntu tower, and never had them with any other MS OS.
So which is it dude? Are you calling this guy out for making up a computer with Win 7 and a touch display, or are you saying you don't have any of the same issues with Win7 and touch displays?
He said "starting at" to indicate a reference to the lowest level base model. That page says to chose a model with cellular if you want it. Learn to read.
It's been showing up on and off for a while. I believe it is a joke or some kind of troll protest of the Dice takeover.
Notice how comments like this never have any replies referencing whatever the original content would have been. If Dice wouldn't just delete this comment, why would they have no trace of replies? It's also an AC post... make of that what you will. I still see plenty of posts that should be removed if there was a filter and they are not removed, so I doubt it's real.
And I hear PR is going to pursue statehood.
Maybe. The vote was a non-binding referendum on what people would prefer the status of PR to be if not a commonwealth. The majority vote was to not stay a commonwealth and the majority preference would be to become a state. There's still a lot of work to happen before statehood.
I vote to retain the judges with the names that I find amusing. I make super informed choices.

Where did you come up with this gem anyway? His joke was about 3 pedals and 3 legs

You're probably just going to confuse him and make him rant about your implicit use of Celsius temperatures.
What is this reverse acquired Disney nonsense? You mean they got Disney stock for selling out?

You can actually have both at the same time even. The horror!
Metro apps can be pushed into a sidebar making room for another app to fill the rest of the screen, that other app can be the desktop.

I used quotation marks to imply that I wasn't using the literal definition. Can't a guy spew some anti-Apple nonsense on /. anymore?
I still think it's lame that the live stream was only viewable by certain devices
To be pedantic, you are saying Democracy has no choice not Capitalism.

If your "live stream" is only viewable by a select group of devices I don't consider that "live".
Lame way to get a more favorable audience for the initial views and reports.
Basically the leaf will actually be worth owning after you have owned it for 13 years and have had ZERO maintenance costs.
That would be zero maintenance costs above a typical Versa's maintenance costs.
You know, there are other reasons besides purely financial ones to buy an electric car...
Yes this is true, but the reality of things is that those other reasons won't get a lot of people to buy electric cars.
