Something similar seemed to be approved in November 2008. Anyone know why it didn't have any impact? As far as I can tell a bunch of tech companies complained that the requirement to listen for existing broadcasters, or looking up a database, was to expensive to implement in devices, and a bunch of existing broadcasters complained about interference. What will be different this time around?
Actually I found that there is a lot of advanced math/engineering content on Wikipedia that seems like only readers with intimate knowledge of the topics would be able to understand. My biggest problem with the articles was that there was too little intuition given to help an outsider read the articles.
More like one of the fundamental contradictions. If you go faster, that means you took a shortcut. So the less shortcuts you take, the more shortcuts you take... *head asplodes*
Heh. I guess Slashdot has a new, young editor who hasn't run into the audiophile community yet. All you young readers consider this article an introduction to a treasure trove of laughing stock:D
Speak for yourself there buddy, I love lady Gaga to death! And how the heck do you propose to judge her music dispassionately? Counting the number of chords per second or something?
He's got a point. Why can't voice mail run over some data connection authenticated by the phone's unique ID or something similar? They certainly do billing that way. It is 2010, and voice mail still works by having the phone call out to a magic number- how antiquated!
Another important difference between journals and conferences is that conferences usually require that you physically travel there and present your paper. This means you have to pay out of pocket for the trip and conference registration, which can be a hefty $500-$1k for a non-student. So pay attention where it's held:)
I don't understand your problem. If you don't want to spoil the movie then don't read about it. A review can't be spoiler-free; as long as it gives away *any* information about the movie then it is by definition not spoiler-free. Just say no! And let us little people enjoy the article. (ahem).
Yeah, let's forget about tinkering and be happy with what the corporation declares is good for us. No need to learn what a kernel does, how to hack drivers, recompile the windowing system. Then in 30 years guess where the skilled engineers capable of building the next iPhone will be? It's like cutting off the branch we sit on.
You join the real world all you want but I'm sticking to my unencumbered hardware.
It's probably more than that- I bet the CEO was embarrassed being seen with a non-cool phone. Blackberry is kind of yesterday's fad these days.

Actually, most buildings at where I work are *cooler* in the summer due to diligent air conditioning.

Unfortunately the GP didn't exercise his freedom to express himself with certain punctuation.
He forgot a transmission too.
That word doesn't mean what I thought it meant. *facepalm*
I wouldn't say Nexus One was a flop - it accomplished exactly what it was supposed to; just look at all the SnapDragon-based phones it spawned.
It is a travesty that the Great Library was burned down; who knows what kinds of Egyptian treasures were to be found there...
You jest, but how well did it really work out? Is there a gain in our society's collective efficiency due to use of such tools?
I was just reading over this page the other day and thinking to myself how bloated Java is getting.

Pure CGI is not completely resolution-independent; a lot of the quality depends on how detailed the textures are.
1. Spread the rumor that repeated power cycling prolongs the lightbulb life
2. ???
3. Profit!

I like to think of Twitter as IRC with a fancy message distribution graph. The intellectual level of the content is roughly similar to IRC.
And if you have a jailbroken phone, make sure you are ready today to NOT get the update as soon as possible :D
Knowing how German works there is clearly lots of room for creativity in word construction (or is that Wortbildungkreativität?) :D
I totally agree with you guys too! I guess I can stop reading news now and get to work.
Slaughter: I don't think that word means what you think it means.
A choice between the bloodbaths that WW1 and 2 were, and this, is an easy choice.
