It could be a simple case of logging passwords on the 'lite' login interface prior to hashing them and using the hash to authenticate, couldn't it? In that case it would capture everyone who logged into the lite version, irrespective of where the account originated. I've seen some pretty shocking debug logs in the past.
The only way I can see where this ubiquitous collection and storage isn't a problem is if every plate (or whatever) is logged and every citizen has equal access to the database. In a case like that we lose the illusion of anonymity and even the biggest urban center becomes essentially a small village where everyone can know almost everything about each other. People got along fine for a long time in social situations like that and while to our modern thinking it might seem odd, I don't see it as intrinsically unworkable. But that equality is unlikely to happen, and if it doesn't the power imbalance is a very bad thing.
From TFA: "The so-called dead-head pilot on the flight from Bali to Jakarta told the crew to cut power to the motor in the trim system that was driving the nose down, according to the people familiar, part of a checklist that all pilots are required to memorize."
Seems like the assertion is the pilots were supposed to have memorized this checklist.
Apparently they have an open source secure computing initiative and were casting about for a non-classified application to show off their new toys. I guess?
Typical houses in the USA don't have 3 phase. Typically we have a single phase and split it with a ground potential center tap on the transformer. This yields two legs that are nominally 240v apart and each leg is also nominally 120v from ground potential. The intentionally grounded current carrying conductor is commonly referred to as neutral. The only way to get a 240v shock in a typical USA house is to somehow get connected to BOTH legs of the service, which would almost take intent.
I think what happened was that he was legally barred from possessing firearms due to a 2015 court order. Didn't matter how the firearm was acquired, he wasn't allowed to have it due to prior convictions.
That would seem to be a different violation, prohibited person in possession or similar.
Then there are stop and identify laws in several states.
What might be required before another private party wishes to engage in or facilitate a voluntary exchange is not the point. Stop and identify laws are not (1) applicable in the general case and (2) don't require a person to carry ID in any case.
That's one thing that survived the transformation into a video series. Some other things ... not as much.
Not sure I can agree w/ the use of iDevices from that standpoint; at least some Android devices still have removable batteries.

If that's the concern it seems like the solution would be to implement wireless inductive charging rather than dumb down the gizmo.

False
Don't think that's what 'stick and rudder' is supposed to mean in this context ....

They mostly hail from 'blue states', but I doubt it's 100% in any case.

Pretty much, although I'd much rather have 600 miles in 15 minutes, your scenario would at least be useable.

The government contracts out ot Boeing, NAA, Douglas, and others. Apple contracts out to Foxconn. Is the iPhone an Apple product or not?
This is why "The Prestige" still chills me a bit whenever I think about the plot.
Anything that allows people to justify backing away from nuclear is a friend and gift to the oil industry.
The fact that he was still a danger to society and was released anyway is the problem.

Opportunity isn't dead, she just got tired of talking to JPL and is now pursuing other opportunities .... er, options.
Wish I had mod points today. Mod parent up.
The deck isn't integrated with the cruise control, it just taps power.
Welcome to the 21st century, where the 'deck' generally taps into the vehicle CAN bus for things like integration with the wheel controls.

Sure, because as we know no one has ever in the history of automobiles modified or in any way hot rodded a car before this.

.... as the States' does with IDs ....
