Are there any real comparisons out there regarding the hardware? My understanding about the difference between the high end cards and the pro cards wasn't really about processing speed. It's more about detail. The high end cards have a much higher accuracy along with support for more lighting in hardware, etc. when rendering while gaming cards sacrifice some of the accuracy for increased performance. Could be that is all in the drivers...
Everytime I get a new quadro card in at work I usually throw 3dMark at it just to see how it does. It's usually not all that impressive with regard to speed.
I could be entirely off the mark on this one... but aren't we currently filling vehicles with a potentially explosive substance to make them go? I understand there are probably risks with Lithium Ion. But there are risks with most things that produce power. That doesn't mean the right saftey precautions can't be put in place.
Many large corporations are still stuck in the mindset of a microsoft centric world. So in many cases management may have decided on using MOM or SCOM as their monitoring system. That being said, it actually wouldn't be a bad thing to have decent clients for *nix machines. Of course there are other cross platform monitoring systems. But sometimes you don't have a lot of choice...
Myth: If you remove the law tag at the end of your mattress, the police will pay you a visit.
Fact: While you will NOT get arrested for removing the law tag, you should leave it attached because it serves as a means of identification to establish your warranty rights in the rare event any service need arises. Not to mention the fact that law tag labels prove authenticity, protecting consumers against fraudulent "copycat" mattresses.
Well I suppose "not news worthy in this context" and "hide the information" are almost in the same balllpark. Although that isn't what I was suggesting. The information is valuable. But it was presented rather differently. Or, rather, I took it rather differently. I could be wrong about that. Not disputing that either.
I'm not sure what point that has. At the rate we're going we'll have the technology to harvest that energy roughly the same time we....
Ok... we'll have like 9 other solutions before then. I'm sure there are all sorts of energy rich resources out there in our solar backyard. We're not likely to get a reliable way to harvest them prior to finding alternates in our australian (pick your favorite earth bound location here!!) backyard.
Not saying we shouldn't be thinking about it. But it's not exactly anything worth writing home about at this point.
What the hell kind of windows setup are you running that the admin account can't get to all the user areas under Documents and Setttings. By defeault there is nothing to stop this. The admin account has just as much freedom of the system under windows as root does under Linux. Even if you go change the default settings on a file so that only the LUA has rights to blink in it's general direction you're not going to keep the admin user off of it. Just take ownership of the file if you really want it.
2. Hacked machines that could get updated, but people fearing that MS sends the FBI, CIA and WTF after them if they only attempt to update. Where do I sign up for that last one?
"Who are you?"
"WTF! Shutup and give us your stuff!"
Would you look through 10,000 videos to find the guy that stole a car between 10PM and 6am on friday/saturday?
Just because we can collect a stupid amount of data doesn't mean it's entirely useful.
How exactly would this be annoying? We're talkin' about wireless internet. What exactly is annoying about this and what exactly do you have to complain about? The mention of "possible cell phone access in the future" comment was purely to rile people up. Come on. This is a good thing. Deal with it!
And that wonderful statistic comes from.... where?

If it stops DNS providers from using this practice... I'm all for it.

That's what's left of the poor alien souls that attempted to use a pair of them for travel...
Look at the bones!!!

Boss: Hey! What are you doing back in the computer room? ...
Employee: Playing with my wang.
Boss:
So... are you a developer for inkscape or something? Beyond the first few sentences that just turned into an inkscape advertisement.
Let's put that robot in a butt kicking contest.
Did Yoda just learn perl?

Surely you're using secure pop3. And not just sending your password to the server in clear text...
Moral of the post... don't post after that much beer...

Wasn't that the guy that invented gravity? Would suck if he hadn't done that...

Bruce Perens, a Linux cheerleader... Why does that make me laugh?
Not the Ultra... just the regular sparc 5. Bought it off ebay just to play with Solaris.
