Interesting. I admit that it's a stretch. Unfortunately, I can't really see any other way towards better government given the premise that all humans are corruptible (which is true).
The best hand-wavy rebuttal I can think of is to incorporate some buzzwords like 'machine learning' and 'crowd-sourcing' type stuff.
Say your political campaign is successful. Do you have a plan in place to stop one of the "two" parties from co-opting your message and claiming to be a part of the same movement? I'm thinking Tea Party -> GOP and 'Occupy' -> Democrats. Both only 'sorta' worked (TheTea Party was much more successfully assimilated IMO), yet ultimately were co-opted.
No, no...you misunderstand me. I'm not saying there should be less government control, just that it's done algorithmically.
Think automated DMV processing, automated welfare distribution, automated parolee management, IRS collections/auditing, and so forth.
Of course, the inevitable argument against this is that too much trust is placed into the programmers hands. This is why it would all have to not just be open source, but clearly laid out and audited by many many programmers and non-programmers alike. Further, the algorithms should have built in mechanisms for refinement and improvement.
"I can't think of any social/political system which is NOT vulnerable in such a way."
What about getting people out of government as much as possible? An open source algorithm for many of the mechanistic functions government purports to provide.
"America’s #1 space launch provider, United Launch Alliance (ULA), is asking America to help name its next rocket, calling on citizens to play a role in the future of space launch by voting for the name of the new rocket that will be responsible for the majority of the nation’s future space launches.
For the next two weeks, the public can vote for its favorite rocket name – Eagle, Freedom or GalaxyOne – "
Pander much? I am curious to see what it has and if it's in the same decade of development as the Falcon series. My bet is on soviet rehash.
While you're ultimately correct, what's holding back the IFR is *not* conspiracy, but material science.
The neutron flux for those is insane! They can't get them to run without dissolving for very long. They aren't economical unless they can run for many years without a total refurbishment.
The best arm-chair hand-waving 'solution' I can think of barring some serious material science advances is a set of cores that repair themselves on a regular basis with CNC/3D printing tech.
I'm not sure if it's just a semantics thing, but what's wrong with having a class called XManager that provides a set of safe functions to deal with a particular object or whatever it may be?
That shows a new nano-scale 3d printer that can create intricate objects in the 400x400mm range versus the 3x3mm range of other nano-scale printers of the same resolution.
You do realize that many people, including me, don't see this problem in the RED TEAM vs BLUE TEAM terms you lay out. Democrats and Republicans are two sides of the same ass-penny.
Whenever I hear people like you shout 'bbbut bbbut the democRATS did it first! They do it too! waaaa, blame them!!!'
Well buddy, I blame both. So kindly sit on a partisan pole.
Well, no more! Now with my patented genuine neutron pads neutron leakage will be a thing of the past!
We use only the purest boron from the banks of Rio Tinto to absorb your stray neutrons*.
*Neutrons from other universes are not covered by this product. If the neutron flux is higher than the OHSA limits, bend over and kiss your ass goodbye.

I take it you're also all for re-criminalizing alcohol, right?
We gotta get back to those wonderful crime-free days of prohibition after all.
...fuck hospital administration?

So...what you're saying is that university officials are giving the NSA my dick pics I sent over my campus email in exchange for funding?
Best argument to a global basic income I've heard so far.
Bitching about how April fools this year is the WORST ever, and that it has jumped the shark has become a /. staple.
Though, I don't think anything (not even OMG Ponies!) could top Beta as a joke.
Seriously though people, who shat on your lawn this morning?

And rich people are more equal, obviously.
Only plutocratic viewpoints hold legal sway.

THAT is some potentially revolutionary shiz!
It's sites that link to sites that link to proxies all the way down!

I'll push and pull that glitoris all night long!
You joke, but I'd love it if they ported it to C#. Java sucks! For real. The only reason I have that shit on my computer now is for Minecraft.
I've found that the best way to watch a rocket launch is at the T-10sec mark to start The Final Countdown in another tab.
Instantly epic launch.
If she likes music and is geeky, introducing her to the world of analog (and analog styled) synthesizers would be a great combination of the two.
My thoughts on this can be reduced down to: "You gotta root for the home team. Go 46ers!"
Or they are producing news worthy material at a pace much quicker than most other companies...
Seriously, why would SpaceX give a shit about promotion on Slashdot? It's not like any of us schmucks will buy a rocket.
Is neutron leakage ruining your day?

Please do health insurance Google! Blue Cross sucks! They need the rug pulled out from under them.
If that means I submit my health info to the Big Datas...so be it. So long as it helps to drive healthcare costs down.
...I see what you did there!
