In the US no one is required to submit taxes online. We can't even do it free for states, only for federal taxes.

utah can file electronically for free. Got the fed state program from h&r block, used it to fill in and file fed electronically, do state then fill in the blanks on the state site from the completed form. electronic deposits, all done in a week. best $40 I spent (got the cd)

The subcommittee has also identified a specific DHS network that is "riddled with ... weaknesses" and could result in data leakage.

I have been on both sides and visited with others on both sides. Any trade where the cost of entering the field (barriers to entry) are low see the same thing. I've seen mechanics, electricians and plumbers all hang out their own shingle.
I have also audited change order costs for contract work, including employee costs.
    Consider this:
    Basic 40 hrs/wk = 2080 hrs/yr
Assuming independent (sole Proprietor), simple basic in US

As an independent you will be lucky to get paid for 50% of that. Employee get paid for all of that, even when sitting around
In US independent pays ~14% SS & Medicare. Employee ~7%, Company covers ~7%
Average Employee costs company ~30% OVER pay rate for SS, Insurance (Unemploy & Group Medical), Vacation & Sick Leave.
Independent has no leave, no unemployment, pays own individual medical.
Employer provides specialized tools. Independent provides them for self.
As independent other 50% of time spent worrying about paperwork, sales, marketing. All the necessary things that don't add a cent to your checkbook.
Employee just has to get their time sheet in.

I've seen lots of people jump between the two. Boom times go independent and get on the gravy train. Bad times grab the paycheck and let the boss worry about keeping the doors open.

In the fire service the difference is between Paid and Volunteer. With all the nasty stuff we can find when the alarm goes off there is no room for Amateurs out there. Amateur implies no training, which makes them a danger to everyone in this field.

  13. Lebed on The Rise Of The 15-Year-Olds · · Score: 2, Insightful

The problem with Lebed (at least what I got from the first part of the show) is he committed a CRIME.
He did nothing productive. He bought stock, hyped it to raise the price, and dumped it. Adults go to jail for that. He (and his parents) tried to make it sound like he found undervalued companies and just shared his views.
    Problem 1:
If he was so sure they were good why sell after a quick run up? Surely it would climb much more if he had really found a diamond in the rough.
    Problem 2:
After he quit hyping the stocks they tanked. His hot air was all that was keeping the balloon up. That is fraud, not investing.
I am surprised all they did was make him give some of the money back. An adult would be in prison
