Whew. I'm glad this is a shill Republican governor bending over to Big Business after the poor Democrat Mitt Romney tried to work for the people by promoting the discussion and consideration of ODF and fighting for the little guy. What are we going to do to stop this travesty?
Oh wait, I got the parties reversed... my bad.

Of all the nations who agreed to Kyoto, which have kept with their commitments?
"FOX's tag line is a lie. Plain and simple. It says that it is unbiased. It can't be, is is very far from being so."
Actually, I've never seen "unbiased" in their tag line. The tag line I've always seen/heard is "Fair and Balanced".
Therefore, if they have someone on from one side, they have someone on from the other and give them about the same time to speak. Obviously when you have two guys butting heads over a point, it sometimes turns into a shouting match and no one is heard, but that's the fault of the moderator, not the channel.
I think it's a huge step that the BBC is admitting their bias. I'm tired of commentators, anchors, etc getting on and saying that they're unbiased despite facts to the opposite.
Your defintion of value is not correct. We're not talking about a car or a house here. Something of value is simply something of 'worth' which, in a philosophical or moral context, is difficult to precisely describe.
Actually, "Value" is a purely human concept - whether you describe it in economic or moral terms - all Value dies with us. A diamond is valuable now, but if we all died of the plague tomorrow, what good is it going to do for the squirrels, dogs, or cats.
But if you believe "Value" extends from something outside humanity and exists with or without humans in the picture, then there must be some concept, entity, or being which determines that this "Value" exists. In this scenario, you - and many others here - would be correct in believing that human concepts are irrelevant and that this entity's concept of "Value" is the most important.
Actually, this has been going on for quite a while and WND is just now picking it up.
YouTube - or its viewership - has been blocking videos critical of Islam, terrorism, etc but has hosted Hamas propaganda without comment. One incites violence, the other does not.
I assume you're talking about Bush v Gore, so I'll bite. If you actually read the judgement, this isn't the story at all:
It was a 7-2 decision that recount should be ended to comply with existing Florida law.
It was a 5-4 decision on when that end should occur. The majority specified the deadline detailed in Florida law. The minority wanted to go beyond it.
Personally, I prefer that my branches of government stick to the laws on the books. If the laws are wrong, fine... we have a mutually agreed upon process to change them or even prevent them from being enacted. I don't want people creating them on the fly to suit their goals.
Actually, intelligence reports get released to the other party all the time. This is called the Select Intelligence Committee which is made up of a subset of the Intelligence Committee. They get cc'd on much of the same information regardless of who is in power. I think this is a good idea and IIRC has been around since the Church Commission (early 70's).
Of course since it's all classified and they have agreed to the classification rules and laws, they can't just release it willy nilly without having the risk of going to a Federal PMITA prison.
He failed to notice that some of the (now dead) UN observers own accounts tell of Hizbollah shooting at the Israeli's from the UN positions. Also that the UN observers were ordered not to evacuate even after expressing their concerns...
I don't agree with their rules for myself, but I think these rules can help protect me from bad parents.
Until someone changes the definition of "bad parent" to include you...
Some people believe that parents sending their kids to a public school is "bad". Some people believe that parents teaching their kids at home is "bad". Some people believe that parents giving their kids alcohol at home (aka a "safe" environment) is "okay". Some people believe that parents giving their kids credit cards is "bad". Some people believe that parents teaching kids to blow themselves up in school buses is "good".
How about you deal with your kids and lock the scum away in jail when/if they break the law? And yeah, throw in their parents with them.
I would suspect that the crowd at Microcenter is a bit different. Here in Northern Virginia, the local MC is a geek playland. Most of their sales people can actually answer questions intelligently and can tell you the difference between SATA, SCSI, etc. I've been genuinely impressed by them a few times.
Therefore, I believe that the people who go there are either a) more inclined to geekiness or b) genuinely looking for help. Besides, I'd probably take a copy just to not have to download FF for people when I do get stuck looking at their systems.
When I get stuck doing tech support for family, the first thing I do is delete all the IE links, install FF, and import their bookmarks. Normally when I talk to them later, the first thing they mention is how few popups they see.
Part of the thing *not* discussed here is that there are huge amounts of the power distro system in DC which *is* underground. The problem that they've run into - and I've had conversations with the people maintaining them - is that maintenance is a nightmare.
Getting to the underground lines is a bear and then making any changes is even worse. In most scenarios, they actually wait for the equipment to fail (eg. ignite and/or blow up) before they can do anything because the alternative is that they take down multiple city blocks for hours...
I worked onsite for a DC-government agency.... it was amazing. They had huge plasma screen TV's for "homeland security". Unfortunately, I only seemed to walk by during their "breaks" from 10am - 3pm when they were watching soap operas, game shows, etc.
That's why this whole "oh, they cut security funding to DC and NYC" doesn't mean much without some actual analysis.
Some estimates say that as much as 90-95% of software development is used 100% in house and will never even be seen - let alone used - by anyone else. From all the custom apps that I've built in various jobs, this feels right, but I have nothing to back it up.
Disclaimer... I guess I'm technically a charter member of OSIV.
I am so glad that tax dollars extorted from me are being spent on such important projects. Thanks Uncle Sam!
I guess I missed the announcement where they figured out the important things like a cure for [choose N: AIDS, breast cancer, heart disease, pancreatic cancer, SIDS...].
Instead of pork barrel, we need a cream cheese brick.
Actually, some of us - http://dcphpconference.com/ - are working to demonstrate that there are many viable and useful projects out there and many of the most common/biggest projects out there have support available
"Liberal" has a root of "Liberty" aka "Freedom" and Classical Liberals are well known for this.
In the US over the last 40(+?) years, Liberal has been taken by those on the Left who support Socialist and/or Communist policies supporting the expansive involvement of government in every day life (education, taxes, business, property rights, etc) all of which strip people of freedoms by removing choice and decisions.
At this point, those who support freedom are relegated to the Libertarians.

That's the first thing I noticed... I saw the headline and figured that somehow the EFF was going after GPL stuff in missiles or something.
You make me proud young padawan.
Hmm... take down one of the biggest Open Source Software repositories and the biggest search engine?
This must be the work of Microsoft!
Now how can we fit Haliburton into this?

I said this exactly to my security buddy who pointed this site out to me. Who knows what will be in the cookie?

The good thing is that the whole War of the Lance will now be over in 24 hours.
The bad thing is that Raistlin will have more kills than anyone... wait, I think that's how it worked out last time.

Haha, that's hilarious.
