Umm, no, they are simply using a hacked Kazaa client. If you aren't sharing RIAA music or MPAA movies (to a lesser extent) then you have nothing to worry about.
But that is a typical American mindset, I didn't say I agreed with it. What probably baffled us even more is Germany being a country inside Europe it makes more sense to an American to work together (50 states, a lot of them bigger than most countries in Europe & of course we didn't always work together with our civil war & all), and less sense to attack each other. The people of Europe have had *how* long to learn to live together & are just now starting to do it?
Please understand how unbelievibly far Europe was to most Americans during the 40's & how much we didn't want to get back into another "Great War" 2000 miles away. *That we had very little (nothing to your average joe) to do with*.
Europe could have just as well been Mars to most people back then.
This is probably going to sound trollish but, most Americans still have the mindset that "These people can't take care of themselves, so we have to do it for them." They've been given little reason to think otherwise.
If you had paid attention, you would have read that I was only talking about an iBook. Yes, a laptop with a single button on the trackpad would be too much of a pain in the ass to me *when I can't use a regular mouse*. If I couldn't attach a Logitech mouse to the iMac I already have, I wouldn't have bought it either.
#1 My morals & ethics aren't your morals & ethics & vice-versa.
#2 It could have just as easily been a demo the guy handed me, but it wasn't. In the end it had the same net effect though. Epic didn't lose any money & they got a customer for life.
As for your crappy analogy, it was more like he offered & I didn't see any harm in not refusing.
Supermodel: "Here kid, try this. It's good." Hmmm...I don't know. Should I try it or not? Your call
PC game mags are crap for the most part, plus the fact that it had been out for a while before I had even heard of it. i.e. I had never heard of the demo when I was handed the full version. BTW when did they start making illegal addictive video games?
Yeah, I guess if I'm going to shell out +/-$2000 for a laptop, it won't kill me to spend another $30 to get the trackpad working the way I want. I just hate having to jump thru hoops. The trackpad should be modular, it would be nice if they offered a 2+ button upgrade for it. I wouldn't even mind (much) paying extra.
If I had to download (on dial-up, remember it's 1999 )the UT Demo, I wouldn't have bothered with it, and they wouldn't have made around $250+ on me in future sales. I was handed a (copy of the) full version of the game by someone that said "Here, check this out." and I did. And I loved it. And I've bought every PC release since.
True. But, why should I have to jump thru hoops to play something I bought? Would you buy a car that you had to run around 3 times counter-clockwise & then kick the front driver's side tire before you could crank it?
I love Macs,(sans single button mice) and was thinking of making my next (future) notebook an iBook, but if what you say is true, then I guess I can forget about that.
Good Point. If I had never "pirated" UT back in the day, I more than likely would have never bought Unreal, UT2003, Unreal 2, or UT2004. Yes, that's right, I bought Unreal *after* UT was out, because I wanted to see what it was all about.
I was fortunate enough to get this software with my burner, and it works great. I was a little leary having had bad luck with Roxio products before, but this one has worked just as expected.

Sure, but if he catches you inside you'll probably find out if he believes in the 2nd Amendment or not.

Adam Duritz
Google is your friend.
Jaysyn
Adam is that you?

Hey, there's an idea. Built in hardware firewalls on laptops. Start it up from the BIOS, configure it via a browser.
Jaysyn

So did you shoot first or what?

I guess you'd say no right? Right.

Huh? My view that both major parties are equally corrupt is hardly indefensible.

(On a long enough time line, the survival rate for everyone will drop to zero.)

How much is Alcohol 120% again? I'd rather get a crack.

But these guys aren't cops. So what is it called now?
Jaysyn
They did the same for UT 2003. I'm not sure if the original Unreal had copy-protection on it, but I don't need my CD to play it either.
Jaysyn
The only way it would be better is if they had monthly limits....
Jaysyn
GLTron is lots of fun. It's not enough of course, but its a definite start.
