[games are] too expensive and there are too many choices
is about half right.. the games are definitely too expensive, most retails in the street sell the games at about £40 or higher, you can get bargains on line though, Little Big Planet is just over £10 nowadays (not to mention the only *really* good game imo for the PS3..)
The other part, "too many choices", well, kind of. There are 100s of pretty much identical FPS games with ever so tiny tweaks to set them apart but nothing in the classic styles! I would kill for a side scrolling shoot em up with today's graphics, or some more fun LBPesque platformers!
Maybe I bought the wrong console?

How is putting all your customer's credit card information online so it is publicly available, and crawlable, Google's fault? What is the known issue? People are stupid?
And why exactly is that a bad thing? During the 14 years of my education I had exactly two teachers who told me anything that wasn't in the book.
Of course, being the curious geeky type, I already read the book the day they made me buy it. Why should I pay attention if I pass the test with the highest score in the class?
Not everyone is like you, if they were, why even have class rooms and educational establishments, why not just have a list of recommended reading, followed by an exam a week later and dispense with all the time wasted?
You certainly wouldn't have benefited from playing on a computer whilst being stuck in a lecture hall, in your case not going to the lectures and doing something worth while instead would have been the way to aid your education.
In my case, I got a part time job working from home, that perfectly complemented my degree, which I did whilst skipping classes.
Looks like the bug was deliberately introduced as a firmware update. That has to be properly explained.
Wow, that's quite a leap you've made there. Hate Microsoft and conspiracy theorise much? Hey, have you seen that film Zeitgeist? Also it's nice to finally meet someone who shares the same thoughts on Building 7!
If the game play doesn't interest you any more, then consider an IT client-server delivery system that manages 11 million customers on a daily basis, each of whom have up to 9 entities per x servers (I don't know how many there are now, but their are 3 major groupings of them) each entity with up to a hundred objects or so each with their own attributes, with those objects involved with a number of transfers, creations and disposals per hours-long encounters, and a similar number of entities living on the server (as PvE mobs).
The day someone throws up an article on this, I will be more than just interested, it will be a fantastic read I'm sure! That wasn't today though was it?
whenever anyone else makes it to level 80, I really don't want to miss any of their important in game breakthroughs.
Stuff that matters, indeed.
Whole lot of stupid going on in these replies ..

The point of this exploit isn't so you can remotely hack other people's phones, it's so mobile hackers can get to a lower level than Android permits users to do, which will allow them to flash the phone with unsigned custom updates and what not and customise their phone more.
People should really read the articles and smarten up.
i believe that, as a Christian, I owe my primary allegiance to the Kingdom of God, and that that allegiance is fundamentally at odds with the purposes of secular government

Why is it that whenever something like this gets *found*, the person doing the finding always understands what's on it? If any of my typical pub going friends and relatives found this the chances of them realising what is on it is pretty slim, and it would most likely get formated.
How many other memory sticks get lost and found by people that don't realise what is on them, or why is it that every memory stick found is always found by an IT literate with the know how to work out what they contain and the immediate urge to sell their story to a tabloid...
We use a lot of self signed certificates for a lot of our internal, non customer facing sites, things like Nagios, Munin, etc. etc. most of our IT department are all running the latest Ubuntu Hardy with Firefox 3 and whilst Firefox's initial behaviour when it sees a new site using one of our certs is as described, it's not the end of the world as you just click through it and save the cert.
The real bitch is every few days everyone's Firefox instances are forgetting the cert, so we're having to go through the process every couple of days. I don't know if this is a bug, or new behaviour (aka a feature) but it's really annoying and driving me mad.
I was amused today when I read this article about a local Mac exploit due to a SUID binary.
osascript -e 'tell app "ARDAgent" to do shell script "whoami"'
All my Mac using friends reported they were vulnerable and I think they're all using the latest Leopard. I'm no Apple hater, don't get me wrong, but it does seem the little things can slip past Apple too, not just Linux (people where I work are *still* affected by the Ubuntu key issue of last month:o)!
There is already a pirate version of Mass Effect released for the PC once again proving that DRM doesn't work, so why are the publishers even bothering? This really confuses me. The added cost of the R&D for the DRM, it's licensing etc. just takes away from the much needed profits the games companies keep saying they badly need. All they do is inconvenience legitimate buyers and cut in to their margins.
Apparently 'not exactly rare' is an understatement. According to the beeb almost 90% of UK drivers have reported incidents of road rage (I don't drive and rarely travel by car so have no idea what the mean streets of Britain are really like). I'm not sure what that really covers though, being run off the road? Sworn at? And is that ever? Across the entire span of someone's life? Is road rage in the UK really *that* bad?
I'm forever after a phone that I can use ssh with easily for when I'm on call, so a full qwerty keyboard is mandatory. This one is actually looking good with an easily accessible @ / and . characters. Does anyone else have any other recommendations?
The perspective he seems to be taking is not so much 'what users search for' but more 'what users post about or publish' with a view to studying the correlation of a large site publishing something and then the number of other websites or pages picking it up and running with it.
I'm pretty sure he understands what he's doing, the article summary is just a bit twisted.

Didn't get in to the closed beta, but the idea of having Quake 3 in your browser is awesome, literally play anywhere! I wonder if it's cross platform?
When it's eventually 'released' it's supposed to be free isn't it? Paid for by ads?
The biggest question though is, is it going to cut in to my Desktop Tower Defence time?!!!

News like people have to get off their fat asses before a certain date to get a DTV converter, else they'll no longer get TV?

Gotcha, cheers!
Surely what they're proposing is basically SSL, everywhere, if a handshake shows that they support it?

People have been writing webcam tracking software for ages, some is actually open source and there's even phonecam tracking software but this the first hopeful sign I've seen for something more fun than some stupid logitech wobbly eyebrowes and a moustache!

Now that I've lived to see this day,
These are the things I must but say.
Die a bachelor, if your options are few,
Never ever love a female programmer,
they'll make a program out of you.
Don't laugh it away, mine has been an object lesson,
They find syntax errors, even in a romantic expression.
Alas! They search logic in love, where there is none,
Your heart may skip a beat and they just hit return.
You are in for trouble if you persist,
You'll just be a pointer in her long linked list.
