    The divide is between individual liberty and government control. Even in a socialist state some animals will always be more equal than others.

    The dictatorship of the proletariat will leave some in power and most without. Ultimately it's who controls - you or the govt.

    Center right would be for a basic free market (not libertarian) and for federalism and a realization that the government does not solve all problems. THAT would be center right. So no. The Democrats are not center right.

    I've been a union member. I'm also active in Libertarian politics. I read everything from the Reason, AEI, Cato and Heritage Foundation publications, The Economist, Wall Street Journal and have never seen "striking, unionization, the ability of workers to switch companies " associated with terrorism.

    All free market people are completely supportive (in concept) with striking and switching companies. There is a problem with public service employees being unionized because there isn't anyone negotiating on behalf of the taxpayers. The politicians want the unions on their side so ... who are the unions negotiating with. (That is the problem).

    Please show me quotes equating striking, switching companies with terrorism. Now there have been union goons, but that is not the same as equating unionism with terrorism.

    There are many cryptocurrencies out there trying to deal with these scenarios. There are some that exist primarily for lightning quick transactions and others for more perfect anonymity. There is room for more than one cryptocurrency and BTC may not be the winner.

    It has, though, proved the value of the blockchain and proved that it's cryptographically secure. (Quantum computing may change the equation.)

  12. It's not a "need to hide" issue. It's a privacy issue. It's a privacy from data mining. Do you want every gov't official (as well as business) to know when you come home, when you go to bed, when you wake up in the morning (which you can know from data regarding electric and water usage, not to mention Alexa).

    how about we return to the anonymity of the dark ages (you know the 1990s).

    I guess you never heard about vacations. How about house swapping? How do you deal with that.

    Can there be abuse? Absolutely. Do I want my apartment building to turn into an SRO (Single Room Occupancy for those not in NYC).

    But there are plenty of reasons to not be there when the renter is there. (Such as going to your girlfriend's house for the weekend while your apt is being used.)

    The "being there" requirement is overreach.

    The US has a 3 trillion dollar budget. Even if the Armed forces had 1/3 of that (it doesn't) you would say it can't account (meaning lost or stolen) over 6 years worth of funding.

    7.03 firearm deaths includes accidental and suicide and self-defense. Stop twisting things around and compare like things. Murder to Murder.



    There are no guns (practically speaking) in Japan. Therefore the suicide rate must be lower there than in NH. (oops, guess not)

    At issue is not deaths in general; at issue is using guns to kill people out of rage, mad-man killing spree, terrorism, or crime.

    Including deaths from suicide show your bias and displays a your intent to distort the data.
    Including deaths from accidental accidents also shows your bias. Yes guns are dangerous. Same as skiing. Same as scuba diving. Same as parachuting. Same as technical climbing. Accidents happen. Mistakes happen skeet shooting. Mistakes happen shooting water fowl (a lot more than hunting deer). People are very careful and yet mistakes happen.

    Actually it's not an affluent state. (At least not in many parts.) There are a lot of people who have homesteading lifestyle. (Not completely off the grid - but much more self-sufficient and much more bartering than in cities or suburban america.

    No freedom of speech and you're living under a tyranny. Tyrannies need not be repressive for the majority of the population. (Many people in China are doing quite well. It's still tyranny.)
