plus, I get annoyed whenever people forget to calculate the amount of unused calories that are evacuated each time you use the toilet. If it can burn, it has energy or calories.
So really, the formula should be Nc = F - (Bmr + E + P) with P being the energy amount found in poop.
damn it, I modded but I need to say that this number 8777 is the number of beekeeper not bee population. The highest was in 1986, but 2014 is close to that all-time max.
What I find interesting is the value of honey is rising exponentially (with a slight dip between 1983 and 1999)
Of interest too is that the total production per colony went from a ratio of 0.06 in 1924 to an all-time high of 0.18 in 1998. So the bees were working 3x as much as in 1924. Maybe they got tired?;-)
I'm wondering if Greece will help itself to the lavish and rich Greek Orthodox Church possessions to help repay the debt, since "the Greek Orthodox Church owns property worth some €700 billion - more than double the country’s national debt." (source, dated 2011-06-27)
My brother refuses to buy any food with palm oil in it, citing environmental issues with it and to a certain extend, health issues. Anyone versed in the topic could enlightened me as to why it's so bad?
If you like the topic of EMP and how it would affect the society, check this fiction from William R. Forstchen. It's called One Second After and it's written from the perspective of the US being brought to its knees after a terrorist EMP strike and its effects on all societal levels.
the withdrawal of consent is an interesting approach. Maybe the father can claim rape since there was pregnancy against his will and without his consent.
For the sake of completeness, I would like to let you know that the fine article is by Lewis Dartnell, the author of the book "The Knowledge". What you have read in a short sample from the book, which is an excellent read. If you are into knowledge to restart a civilization (think food, chemistry, electricity, clothes), then you probably will appreciate the book.
The summary highlights that humans are very special: no other species can communicate as sophisticated concepts as humans can. What you say makes sense and in a way I agree with you, in the same way that an abacus and a microchip are alike since they can both do calculations.
I'd love to find an RPG with the depth and detail of rogue/nethack/angband/etc but with the same learn-as-you go vibe, where everything has more depth than it seems at first. (Wait - you can eat your kills? And there are so many different effects depending on what the critter was? Now I have to try every one! Everything was like that.)
I know this is about the *vaccine*, not the disease itself, but nonetheless, they made airborne the signature of Ebola, which hopefully will stay at that, just a signature and not a payload.
Years ago, I used to think like you, but now I disagree with this statement. For me, perfect means meeting the requirements. Zero error is a requirement but not a reasonable one. My life got much more pleasant when I realized I should aim for meeting reasonable requirements instead of an elusive zero error target.
Did Mr. Hannigan say "that smartphone and other mobile technologies increased the opportunities for terrorist activity to be concealed in the wake of the exposing of secret cables and documents collected by US and UK authorities by whistleblower Edward Snowden"?
Actually, it's the other way around: I acknowledge the horrible behaviours of communism, but don't ignore either the equally awful result of capitalism: both regimes are terrible to their citizens.

you want to watch this very interesting video about the latest UK election.
Some teacher in the UK came up with this new concept:

probably was discussed on /. already, but too lazy to look it up!

here's a 4 minute sample.
that should be his epitaph
and just to make sure it got said, it's neither "could of", nor "should of", nor "would of", but "could have", "should have", and "would have".

Try Ultima 6 or 7.

funny that, when I think the biggest concern about Ebola was that it would become airborne, turns out we are *making* it so!
This video explains why we *should* catch small fish

I'm still not sure yet.
I want to believe you, but failed to find anything online about this. Citation please?
I propose the word 'Puffoon' to mark the case, see Wikipedia for my inspiration.
Isn't this very action what the Congress decreed would be construed as an act of war?
Actually, it's the other way around: I acknowledge the horrible behaviours of communism, but don't ignore either the equally awful result of capitalism: both regimes are terrible to their citizens.
I can't decide if you're being funny or trying to describe the current United States government...
