    Strictly speaking, the Mac Pro isn't a server. It doesn't come with "OSX Server." It's more of a workstation, though you may well complain about the apparent lack of FireGL or Quadra.

    That being said.. what a ripoff high end macs are.. their stock 8 core Mac Pro on their store website is $3300 .. For that price, it should be 24 real cores.

    Where can I get a 24 core machine for $3300? (Nota Bene: For the purposes of this exercise, GPU cores will not count.)

    If you have one or two software mainframe software packages, and don't need 5 9s, TurboHercules is much cheaper than the low end mainframes that IBM offers.

    Lehemann claims that it's "Moore's Law in Action".

    IBM has also fought to keep zPrime's mainframe accelerator off the market.

    There's a market for consistently reliable computers, but I don't think it's quite as large as the mainframe market.

    Given that "Sink the Bismark" recieved decent reviews of a sort I'd have to trust that they know what they're doing. Maybe the 18 month aging process helps.

    A national broadband plan has to incorporate all of a nation's people. Those rural parts (such as Tasmania, Northern Territory, Nunavet, Alaska, and so on) really drag down the average.

    Yea, you could _maybe_ find a copy of Windows 98 for $10...which isn't a bad idea, but I find that the apps that will run on that are also the apps than run flawlessly on Wine

    Ironically, I have difficulty running apps that old on my setup, because win16 is broken on macosx.
