Don't ANY of you people know about werewolves?!? This is indeed a frightening development.
What Apple REALLY does not want you to know however, is that all their evil intentions can be thwarted by those north of the equator by whirling around in a counterclockwise motion and chanting "maria ouspenskaya" over and over again until they pass out. SOUTH of the equator you must spin in a clockwise motion. This is VERY important. You do not want to know the consequences of going the wrong direction. If you live near the equator, you must travel AT LEAST ten miles to the north or south before you do this. Personally, I would not go less than 50. And again, be VERY, VERY careful that you have the direction right!
I would not recommend my method, but here's what I did (keep in mind that "Life is what happens while we're busy making plans." - unk.):
I got old. As soon as I was eligible to begin receiving benefits from one (relatively meager though not bad considering all company contributions and only 11 years with the company) retirement plan I did it. Once I became eligible for SS I took it. Several years before that (around my 54th or 55th birthday), I went back to my first love: music. I continued my independent IT consultant career, started playing my guitar again, got in some bands, and realized that this is what I should have been doing all along -
RULE #1 - follow your muse
RULE #2 - figure out a way to make money doing it
RULE #3 - pay your bills and be fair to everyone.
RULE #4 - keep following rules 1-3 until they nail the lid shut.

And some of us who remember Word Perfect (ver. 4.2 on DOS) still use it - WordPerfect 8 for Linux...
And this is only one reason why no one will ever "hire" me, and I will never again have a "job", even though I'm going stark naked (no health insurance) right now. If a client has something that's working for them and wants me to "fix" it, I try to find out what it is that needs fixing. If you want to crunch numbers, do you need a pretty gui interface? If it's "green screen" does that mean the millions of phone bills that it prints out every night are wrong? Bad code is bad code, and I've seen plenty and had to clean up after a lot of hotshots. And I've had to talk until I was blue in the face trying to convince someone younger than me (I'm 56) that a 'newer' technology (linux, for just one example) is better for certain things than 'old' technology. What do you want to do? What works for you? What doesn't work for you? "Hidebound" can apply to 'dinosaurs' (who really believes that mainframes are dead?) as well as people who think Bill Gates or Steve Jobs invented the computer and that their was no life before Windows....
?? Having an SUV is an example of extravagance but having two vehicles is not? Having a job (or business) that may require you to be their when driving conditions are less than ideal is an extravagance?
Okay, I'm wrong. SUVs ARE the root of all evil...
Actually, I wish I could afford to buy a new Hummer and have it converted to a diesel engine that burned left-over cooking oil... I don't see the US (or us) ever running out of that commodity...
Granted, this was not heavily promoted. I only saw four ads, two in KC Computer User and 2 in Linux Journal. I'm sure the LJ ads cost a bundle, and I'm sure Greg took quite a bath on this. It's unfortunate, because it could've been a good show, but this is KC, and we are (yes even on MY side, the MISSOURI side of Kansas City, MO) about 2-3 years behind either coast in 'getting' it. That said, I think it would be a great idea to have a HUGE booth at this fall's ITEC (the only remotely well-attended trade show in the metro KC, KS/MO area). It's pretty safe to say that almost all of the attendees at LinuxFest2000 were at least Linux aware. Although I had an absolute blast, we were essentially preaching to the choir. I'd like to see the entire KC area community, including the KULUA and the KCLUG (the Kansas City Linux User's Group - the group I'm a member of) support a booth at this fall's ITEC, AND support Greg Palmer in making next year's show (or next year's booth at ITEC) a huge success. Greg lost a bundle on this, and I think he is to be commended for making the effort. Helping him to make future events like this a HUGE success will help us all.
Penta - 5 - pentagram...

And in the most shocking development in this story to date: people are still surprised by this...
I can tell that THIS guy has never been intimately involved with and subsequently pissed of a hot, sexy, bright and spirited Asian woman!
Actually, I'm pretty sure the LUGS (at least the KCLUG) got their booths free. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
