It was about 3 years ago that I decided to totally drop Word and start using OO's Writer instead. And writing/editing is my profession. In all these years, I haven't had any client/editor tell me they had a problem loading my OO-produced documents, which I regularly export into various Word version formats.
I've been poking around this for a while. This is an elaborate mystery game that is unfolding across a couple of hoax web pages.
The plot, from what I've gathered, has something to do with an abandoned mental hospital where patiens were experimented on. The experiments had something to do with dreams. There's also an underground sewage network beneath the hospital that seems to factor into this tale.
The website for the fake TV reality show production company appears to serve as the launch point for this game, as well as offering subtle, hidden clues. But other than for these things, the site itself and the other two reality shows it describes are probably red herrings.
"...male players...to treat avatars as tools/pawns to achieve goals, thereby encouraging a preference for [third-person play] that objectifies and externalizes the avatar."
Translation: Guys like to check out the ass of the female character they're playing.
Star Wars Galaxies simply needs to be revamped. (For example, they should do a Clone Wars MMORPG where everybody gets at least a couple of chances to be a Jedi.) As for the current incarnation, everybody should be given both a "normal" character and a Jedi -- they must figure a way in which not everybody can use their Jedi online at once. Otherwise, Galaxies is very much of a letdown. Who the hell wants to play one of the boring, ugly peons you see in the background of the SW universe?? It's an insult to the customer's money and time. SWG cannot be totally canonical with the movies -- a movie is a movie, and a game is a game. Lucas needs to get with it and let it go: Allow the developers to do what's necessary to make a good GAME.
I've wondered, have they considered going to a laptop motherboard manufacturer to make the innards of the Xbox?
I never understood why the Xbox's design seems to be that of a PC scaled down, when it seems like it would make more sense to design it as a laptop minus the LCD screen. It would also greatly reduce the size of the Xbox. Laptops today have processors well over 1GB, and on-board 3D graphics chipsets that are just as good as the Xbox's.
Or is it just too expensive to manufacture the Xbox this way?
I can attest that this sums up screenwriting these days as well, in Hollywood and the professional filmmaking field.
You're better off teaching yourself how to make your own films (by shooting your own productions on 16mm film or DV video) than writing screenplays and expecting somebody else to "get" your vision and want to bring it to reality.
Screenplays, and game concepts, are a dime a dozen. Coming up with a good idea isn't that difficult. The key is, do you already have the power/ability/contacts to turn ideas, even the shitty ones, into reality?
Other than for the creators' tastes, this explains why there are lots of shitty movies and games in their respective markets. They're made by companies/people who have the POWER to get them made/funded, not because they come up with a "great ideas".
Instead of trying to market a box (which no retail store will ever put on the shelves), I think they should devise a set of hardware specs so that anyone can go to the computer store and buy the parts to put together their own TuxBox. After all, an Xbox is essentially a PC game box.
This guy plans to make a Ms. Pac-Man upright cabinet from scratch. He has pictures of measurements taken from a Ms. Pac-Man cabinet, which others can use to try to make this, too:

And in other news, the sky is blue, and the sun rises in the East and sets in the West.
The first one they have in the works for The Phantom is Duke Nuk'em Forever.

Ye see a FLASK. Obvious exits are NORTH, SOUTH, and DENNIS.
I wonder if anybody will come up with a crack for this game?

Does this mean that the Linux version will be FREE? That would be one incentive to help me switch to Linux permanently.
How is Xbox faring in Europe? If it's sinking there, too, then it looks like Microsoft will have to settle for second place in North America.

Hmmm, maybe this could explain why Duke Nukem Forever has been taking so long to go gold -- the developers want to remain gainfully employed.

These aren't the droids you're looking for...

Let's hope it's not something assinine like "Indiana Jones and the Attack of the Clones" or something.
Ah, brings back fond memories of the Atari 400! http://www.heydon.org/kevan/collection/manufacture r-atari/400.html

When I saw Crouching Tiger, I watched, jaw open, and thought, DAMN -- THIS is what the Jedi knights should be like in the Prequels!
This guy built a Defender upright cabinet:

This company sells an upright cabinet for home use that's modeled after the Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga cabinet (scroll down to "Mini Ms. Pac-Man 1"):
