All of this "Information broadcasting" technology is very exciting stuff. I'm very curious where do you currently live? If you could answer the question with an address that would be very helpful. I've got a subpoena^H^H^H^H^H^H some documents I'd like you to look at.
Good point, even the firewall/router I built using the LFS 3.0 a year ago really didn't touch on firewall rules back then (I just did a lot of research and installed iptables & startup scripts from scratch.)
However, I already scanned through the BLFS documentation and they now have a firewall/router section! (although I don't think they mentioned uninstalling the compiler and locking down other files. If anyone does need that kind of stuff you may want to look at debian's security manual which does a pretty good job! Course you'll have to tailor it to your needs & file system.)
I personally did the LFS (2.4 & 3.0 ver.) serveral times one summer for the experience and was extremely impressed with the documentation that walked you through the whole thing. Problem was, after I was done, the boxes were only really suitable for servers/firewalls/routers as I had no idea what was needed to install X Windows and other things like gnome & KDE (far more dependent on libraries and I had no clue where to start!) Now, I can hand tailor my own desktop client systems and take LFS to the next step! Thanks BLFS team!
BTW, if you want to do the LFS part, I'd expect it to take a few weeks for a novice linux user (that's about what I averaged all three times.)
Not here in Hampton Roads Virginia. In all cases they knew it was a cellphone based off the caller ID string that came up on thier terminal. Half the time I didn't even get a chance to order before they were telling me I couldn't order unless it was for pick up only. And I did try a number of different pizza delivery outfits. Maybe in other places thier more trusting. *shrugs shoulders*
Thanks! I should have considered online authentication versus the ole phone line. Was just so use too the phone number in my head...Guess old habits die hard.
Every single Pizza delivery company requires a landline (atleast in bad areas!) I got ride of my land line a few years ago only to find out that they won't deliver a pizza to a cell phone number!
And it does make sense.
*holdup man calls Domino's behind Walmart* Gunman: Umm..Yeah. Gunman: I'd like to order a pizza behind Walmart on 32nd street. Gunman: Tell him to delivery all his other orders first. Gunman: I'll just wait...
So, as a programmer I REQUIRE a land line to get my nourishment! (and if you tip them well, after a while they deliver beer too!)
If you've bought a colo spot through a fake ID, your files aren't anywhere a Cop would figure out. Next, access the files through a ssh tunnel and life is good...
Just be sure to write a script into your.bash_logout that wipes your.bash_history & all relevant log files...
Not that I've done this or anything... Wonder if I should have posted this anonymously...
With the new powers given to the government and the current WitchHunt in progress, all us geeks need to keep a low profile before M$, BSA, RIAA or MPAA declare you a terrorist in a public forum..Ops..already happened...
Timmy says: "Bill? what's that on the ground?" Bill says: "Don't know Timmy. But if it moves I say we hit it with a big stick!"
Bought it & would recommend it!

To some of you Uber network admins out there this book won't be very helpful. But to me, someone whose been net-admin'ing it for 2 years this was very helpful! Shows you lots of nice tricks. I found the section on utilizing ssh to its full potential extremely useful! I never thought of doing backups over ssh before! I'd rate this book 5 out of 5 stars personally!
The first person at the front of a long line of folks to walk up to the ATM, do the retina scan, then cup their eye and scream out in pain until the ambulance actually appears...
ROFLMAO
god knows, if that were to happen in our little town, no one would ever use that ATM again. FOREVER! Heck, folks here are just beginning to USE an ATM
Sorry for the late reply (was out of town. Imagine that!) Sincerely appreciate the info. I've passed the link on to the other developers. All that remains is one word...
Glad to hear it! I was told that no classified data was to be permited on NMCI and that it wasn't permited period. We have some employees at Chinalake right now that tell us they have separate systems for classified data that are outside of NMCI. Could be that that part of NMCI just hasn't gotten to them yet. Course, their classified network could have been labeled as a 'LAB' hence exempt from NMCI all together. Do you have any solid links for some of the other questions we're facing?? As a developer most of our stuff already fits w/in proper 'network friendly' protocols but NMCI has raised the bar a fair amount. Thanks for your correction. Cheers!
As a government contractor I've got to tell you that the NMCI has been a huge monsterous headache from its inception. Our small company has several contracts with various naval bases in the US. Finding information on when cross-overs will happen?, what new requirments will need to be met?, what ports will be open?, What software will be acceptable?, what servers will be allowed? has been impossible. One week we here that all webservers will be running IIS and then the next week we hear they're only supporting Apache! Don't even get me started on what DB's will be allowed to operate on thier network!
Another problem with NMCI is that once the hardware part is settled and running smoothly THEY WILL GET FIRST DIBBS ON ALL SOFTWARE PROJECTS! That's right boys and girls! So, if your company has developed a cool information management tool that the navy currently can't do without, within the next 5 years (so I've heard) NMCI will get a chance to replace your software with their version without bidding on it!!
And!! You ready for this! THIS NETWORK CAN'T PROCESS CLASSIFIED DATA!! Yep! You heard me! It's sorta like having a car with no WHEELS!!
Man I love payoffs and politicians! They both start will a 'P'! which is damn close to the letter 'S' for screwed!
I'm guessing Vox won't be camped as much either!

However! we're dealing with BUSINESS MAJORS!
These are the folks that thought classroom attendance was optional and a 'C' on the ole report card stood for 'Cool!'
If the editors hadn't used words like 'rebellious' & 'radical' they wouldn't read the articles!
Why??
Cause there's something shiny ...right..Over....There...
That distracts them!
Apparently FreeDesktop's web admin doesn't know what a ServerAlias directive is.
U_da_Man!
Thanks again.
