Seriously, games aren't going downhill. They're becoming more immersive. Technology is helping. Unlike movies. You can turn any bad story into a game that's fun. Just look at flow, or the sims, or any number of the addictive flash games on the web. For some of us, games are about fun. For others, games are about money. These are the silly rantings of an old man who has become obsolete and obscure.
Thanks for the games and the memories Nolan, but we're not interested in what happened "in your day".
How can any sane person not think "portal" is a masterpiece? It's like Mario Bros. You have really only two functions: move and create portals. Unlike Mario Bros. however, it's fun and new and fresh. I ate the cake.
I've been a gamer since I was 5 years old. In the 16 years since that time, I've seen the ratings system evolve. The industry has evolved. I've always believed that games should have real ratings.
Parents don't care, or they don't know. NOT EVERY GAME IS FOR CHILDREN!
As someone who will become a father in a few months time, I don't want my kid playing GTA or Manhunt! When he is well adjusted enough to understand such material, then he can play it. There are parents who let their 10 year old kids play with such games. Those are bad parents.
I am bleeding excitement. I thought to myself, Hmm, I can't wait for HL2:Episode 2 to come out. I loved HL2 and Episode 1. Then it occurred to me that I've been waiting for TF2 for 9 years! I didn't even know what portal was until I viewed the trailer only a month ago. I had assumed it was another of those dinky steam games that sells for $9.95.
I was astonished with portal. The closest reaction I can describe is seeing quake3 trick jumping for the first time, after realizing it was fake. Well, that and the first time I saw the physics gun in HL2. It was with the leaked alpha. It was so rough then, yet somehow the coolest thing I'd ever seen in a game. Then TF2! The style just completely makes sense. It's like "No one lives forever" meets "The Incredibles". And fun to play. I'm still looking forward to HL2:Episode 2. I will play it through. Then I will uninstall it. It just makes financial sense to buy the orange box.
I pre-ordered it from gamestop. Then, while talking about it with a clanmate, I realized something. I don't want another cardboard box and game disc!
They're a liability. I need to keep track of them. With steam, I just need a password and email. Steam keeps track of my account, and games I've purchased. I can download them and install them any time I want. I can uninstall them and free up disk space and not worry about it.
There was a time when I had 60+ game boxes mounted on my wall as a badge of pride. Now, steam makes it easy to own games.
I have used Thunderbird exclusively since v1.5 and I have never looked back! I need those new features. I need security updates. I need a calendar. We all use Thunderbird. Just fork it damnit! We need it.
Jack Bauer knows how to use his technology. He's a really smart guy who knows how to send emails and pictures and files over his (or any) pda. I wish DHS were that smart.
cable companies have installed traffic shaping for their networks. It's not uncommon to get full bursts of 30Mbps.
it is however uncommon to maintain 20Mbps for longer than a few minutes. With the verizon service, you get that.
There are no careers in computer science anymore.
There are only jobs.
The only people with careers are those who were trained in the 60's, 70's, and 80's.
You can give any company your time and effort. They will turn around and fire you to hire the young new talent for the next project.
There is no loyalty from companies. There is no guarantee of a career for those who enter the computer science field.
you share that 30Mbps/1.5Mbps with your neighborhood.
That 20Mbps/20Mbps is all yours!
This from the man that published "E.T."?

These industry shills had better learn to do business in the new market.
capitalism is getting to hard for them.
Disney: obsolete
SONY: obsolete
Warnerbros: obsolete
columbia: obsolete
atlantic: obsolete
universal: obsolete
paramount: obsolete
VIACOM: obsolete
learn to do business in the new market or become obsolete.
why on earth would the lose the WIPO dispute?
The domain was expired, and they snatched it up for their group.
Cyber-Squatting is when someone holds a domain for ransom or for sale who has no intention of using the domain for any purpose other than profit.
This is not going to be easy to prove. And, if the pirates lose, it will be an unlawful decision based on facism.
did dumb ballots cause volusia county to tally negative sixteen thousand votes for al gore in 2000? that's right, -16,000.
This is great news for us Floridians.
now if we can all just use #2 pencils!
sorry SONY, I no longer need you.
most retailers don't allow the return of opened software.
so they're screwed as soon as they break the seal!
what does it all mean! wtf is a cyber-sidearm

whoops! Amazon it is!
How about removing the DRM on video content?
What if ONStar screws up and bricks your car while doing 75 on the freeway?
You die and potentially so do more people in the resulting crash.
This technology should deter people from buying these cars and GM will die off finally.
They make shit cars anyway.
I'll take a honda or subaru or mitsubishi any day of the week over anything made by GM.

That is firefox. Look at the menu bar in other pictures.
As far as I know, firefox is GPL.
Most users are dumb.
a feeling of someone being in the room that isn't there?

call it Inlook or something!
bullshit.
It's in Microsoft's best interest that they regain market share.
They are so fucked up, their top copyright evangelist doesn't even know the laws are broken.
WE THE PEOPLE.
NOT we the fucking corporations!
what more proof do you need that your government is not working in your best interest? Time to vote these nitwits out of office.
at what temperature does it melt?
it's plastic. not steel.
quit your whining. no one wants to hear it.
Thank you!
