  3. this is what happens on Vista Not Playing Well With IPv6 · · Score: 0

this is what happens when you have a company trying to write solid, stable net code for an operating system that isn't solid or stable.

Microsoft's TCP/IP stack is untested, unproven, and untrusted.

any IT manager who puts the vista stack on his network should be fired for being a tool.

you have to ask, what's wrong with the BSD stack that's been working great for 20 years?
obviously microsoft screwed it up in every version of windows that used it.

The same implementation running under Linux just runs better, providing better throughput with less cpu overhead.

  5. The Truth on DRAM Makers Suffer Due to Lackluster Vista Adoption · · Score: 1

Microsoft has forced Vista users to use the "Games for Windows Live" system.
This is a "service" which forces users to pay a monthly subcription fee just like Xbox Live.
Microsoft is also making sure that some of the newest DX10 and even DX9 games are only "Games for Windows".

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does anyone actually want this service?
this is something that used to be free. Now microsoft wants gamers to pay for something that uhh, used to be free.
This is why gamers won't switch.
This, and the piss-poor untested TCP/IP stack in vista.

This only makes me wonder more why mainstream publishers aren't going after Linux more. Thank you ID Software for doing the right thing.

and microsoft should also be investigated for doing the same thing with their "starter editions" of windows.

They sell the same product for less money in other parts of the world.

why shouldn't we be able to purchase them? in a free market society, we would be able to do just that.

Lest we forget petrol stations in America and their "zone" pricing scam.
