I've had to dig through the registry to adjust settings to get things to work 'properly' in recent version of windows (visual studio - network BIOS command limit has been reached). I don't see that as a far cry from copying and pasting a few command lines in linux to get something configured or working. Please know that I am not a stranger to a bash shell, I usually have a few screens running irc and stuff...
That said, I use both. I have a win7 and an ubuntu box on my desk. Sure, I dropped Unity about 10 seconds after my first login (Unity is really just terrible, I truly don't understand how anyone ever thought it was a good idea.) Mainly, I use win7 as my main workstation (read: gaming) and my linux box for a web/media server and irc client (i really like byobu) as well as an alternate workstation when windows is rebooting/updating or whatever and I don't want to interrupt or interfere with its current activity - which is not often.
A cleverer person could make a VMWare instance to run all their DRM HDTV signals from maybe...
I am too lazy not to pirate - I would get very frustrated if I were to encounter a situation like the OP.
I had comcast for a while, and while it ran fine for several months, one day I had connectivity issues.
I called their service line, and told them I was unable to maintain a steady or stable connection. They told me to load up IE blah blah.
When I told them I was running linux (mandrake 7 at the time) I was told "Sorry, we cannot help you. Linux does not have the right software to connect to the internet or transfer files." This poor sap seemed to believe it too. I moved 2 months later. Now, my area's time warner cable service has been sold to these fuck holes.
About the only thing they could do to get more subscribers (back) is a rollback. That is the only thing anyone interested in playing that game wants. Its going to be a niche market, might as well cater the the hardcore...
Unfortunately, its about the last thing that will ever happen. Can't have mgmnt admitting to mistakes...
Why was this change announced 1 day after all the pre-orders got charged for the latest expansion?
Are you dumbing the game down for a console release?
Why are you removing all the complex interactions that your hard core star war fans and veterans loved (see: crafting)?
Are you worried about class action lawsuits regarding the latest expansion, and California law that concerns advertising a product you have no intent to sell (see: items advertised for ToOW, now removed from game)?
I played this game for quite a long time, learned and adapted to the new system, previously. These most recent changes make me sick. I will say, I tried them, and after playing them for a bit, I immdiately went and cancelled my account. People are leaving in droves, including the real SW fans that made this game fun.
Also, did Tiggs quit or get fired?
Bye, bye little rodian guy
Drove my speeder to Mos Eisley, but cantina was dry
See old storm troopers, drink jawa beer and cry
The day that this game died.
The new expansion was a total scam, they suckered people into with things that are invalidated at the end of the month. Perhaps they are trying to admit they screwed the pooch with the first CU, but fixing the broken things and not listening to the amplified voices of carebears was all that was ever really needed in the first place. It almost seems like all the devs have quit, and they only have managers left.
The new game in no way measures up to the things that many many people bought and played the game for. It is becoming a cookie cutter MMO with a star wars skin. And it pisses me off.
the jedi alpha class in swg was fine until they made it easier it get a jedi toon than to tie your own shoelaces.
now all pvp (in swg) consists of jedi and riflemen (and some jedi/rifleman hybrids)
i just canceled my acocunt.
they were thought through, somewhat. The game, and how people play it, have evolved, and they are working to keep a balance, so there is not so great a rift between veterans and newbs.
Now if they would just instance the dungeons and caves, to do away with loot campers, I would be happy!
We had an sbc line for quite a while. It seemed they could call us as telemarketers with 'offers from their partners' since we were sbc's customer. We switched to a digital phone from TW and have had exactly 1 telemarketer call, from the mortgage company that i just purchased a house through (and who sold the loan 3 weeks later, so no more calls from them) and have never been happier.
Ya, windows XP does a rather poor, yet better than win2000pro, job of running 'jetletter', a dos based mail merge program with a horid interface, and worse printer support, yet refuse to adopt things like VIPP (Variable Intelligence Postscript Printware) or some of the perl scripts to do similar things faster, and easier. Does it say some thing when they refuse 'Intelligent?
so, how long is it going to be before some idiot starts selling letterhead for law enforcement agencies on ebay?
With, of course, a previously stolen identity.
I have a an AMD k6-2 cpu. I put an orb heatsink on it one time, not noticing the little ridge that went around the bottom. Well, that ridge was the only thing contacting the cpu, leaving a nice pocket of air right above the core. I managed to scrape most of the black off, but it is scarred for good. Funny thing is, it has never once been unstable...
Ancient weapons and hokey religions are no match for a trusty blaster at your side, kid.

I would have to suggest it is more akin to suing the printer who made the gun catalog from which you ordered said firearm.

Actaully, in Kansas, you are supposed to buy 'Tax Stamps' to place on your bags or containers of narcotics. Supposedly, you can get them anonymously.

hopefully the anti-decay kits dont all get applied to the galaxies best dot weapons.

Next, Vivendi will sue Blizzard over patch delivery systems.
