OpenGL gives you easy porting to Mac, Linux and all the Japanese consoles. Not a small market, the consoles alone, with two more systems coming Real Soon Now.
The "extra file" could also be an external device where you type in a PIN or insert your card to get a number required to enter (I have both, and the old PIN 'calculator' is still valid). This number is generated from a seed only your device and your bank has, and is valid for about a minute. A crook would have to be real fast to use a logged passnumber.
Banks would need to protect themselves against this sort of thing, because any sudden transfers away for a customer's account would lead to them having a stern word with their bank. An investigation could also show the huge transfer to have happened while logged in from an IP address elsewhere in the world (unless the keylogger also contains a proxy, of course).
Some banks (like mine) might have "stupidity insurance", like Visa, where they cover losses up to a certain amount.
A while ago, I discovered my bank's ridiculously bloated Java login didn't actually care what password I typed. The webmonkey at their end took it very seriously, and things were promptly fixed. If your bank doesn't care enough about security, change!
Over here in Scandinavia, we use military time. We don't call it that, though. It's just our way of showing the time. AM and PM is the "silly English system", and I always have to think hard to figure out what time it translates to.
15:00 is pronounced "three". You may want some ice for that brain now;)
I haven't noticed huge memory usage with Firefox, either, and startup time is the same with Opera and Firefox. When I was using Opera 7.x, it could eat over 100MB of my memory, and even more earlier, plus it crashed randomly. Opera 9 merely shuts down on certain Flash sites now:)
I pretty much only use Opera for actual browsing (testing webpages in others), and I see memory between 55MB and 80MB. Part of this is the memory cache I set, which is 20MB, I guess.
Non-Sony memorysticks are no more expensive than Secure Digital and Compact Flash around here, so that's no longer a problem for PSP homebrewers. Still, I wuv my DS, and don't need a PSP:)
Yeah, I expect that comment to get quite a bit of..feedback. But it was the director of the National Gang Crime Research Center who said it, so direct all complaints thataway. I don't even practice Wicca, and find that sort of uninformed lumping-together fucking disgusting.
And devil-worshippers? There aren't really many devil-worshippers, apart from various criminally insane cases. If he meant Satanism, it's more of an ego-centric religion. I got the impression that director has lived a very sheltered life.
2-DVD games are not uncommon on PS2. Shadow Hearts:Covenant and Star Ocean II from just my collection. I think God of War is on a dual-layer disc (European version with extra languages) and The Bard's Tale is definitely a dual-layer disc. I expect collections of series of modern games to require multiple DVDs anytime soon:)
Sure, RSS makes it easy, if you can cut down the stream to just the subjects you are interested in. Then you need to KNOW ABOUT the sites in question - I wouldn't have heard of Digg if people weren't constantly bitching about it here;)
About point 5: The creators of Lost have threatened to keep the show going on and on ad nauseam. Would you *really* want that to happen? Six seasons of nothing happening?
I think I can explain why some have a desktop that looks like a purple icon-eater shat all over it.
Programs installed ask ever so nicely to put an icon on the desktop, and after a few installations, you're used to it. They just multiply slowly.
On Linux, people are used to work from $HOME in the command line from days of old, and KDE etc. gives you that icon on the desktop. So basically, Windows users must be one tiny notch lazier than Linux users:)
(My KDE desktop is clean, apart from $HOME, a picture I accidentally dragged on it and a link to Kaffeine that mysteriously appeared during an upgrade, while my Windows desktop has at the moment about 35 icons for games, development tools and text files that I'll put in the Objectbar bars "someday")
Automatix overwrites system configurations and whatnots, and force various commands to say 'yes' to possibly dangerous operations. The #ubuntu denizens recommend againsy using it.
I've been reporting to, and watching, the bug database for the past week or so, and the number of CRITICAL and MAJOR bugs have gone down drastically over the past three days (many will still show after they've got 'rejected' or 'fix released', but they can be ignored). From what's left, I can see a little overlap on some problems, including one that hindered me from upgrading to Flight 7 from Breezy. Here's hoping they squash it in the next couple of days:)
>If every game used the Doom III engine every game would play exactly > like Doom III and Quake IV Then again, Alien Swarm doesn't play anything like Unreal Tournament 2004, which is the engine it's using.

They rip from HDTV, which sometimes IS better than DVD.
Yay for massacres! I'm also expecting there to be positive effects of Bully. OR at least lots of entertaining
statements from American know-it-alls.

Sure there are plenty of good movies, but IMDb can't tell us what to like!
I didn't like half the top 50 movies on their list, for example.
You used to have respect for soldiers? I find *that* shocking!

I'm getting CDDB info from freedb.freedb.org right now. They're CDs in my
"to rip" pile, so I shouldn't have that part of the DB stored locally yet.
This is as good a place as any to post this link:

As far as I can tell, Swedish law doesn't have a concept of "contributory infringement".
It's big in the US, though..
$40 for a shirt that might attract unwanted attention, even :) ;)
