I have the same nick/password on several sites. Including, but not limited to,/., soylentnews, fark, ultimate-guitar, ars-technica, a couple dating sites, a gay dating site, a site dedicated to midget transvestites, and petitions.whitehouse.gov. Feel free to track me.
Dang, I should change the latter. Some of the petitions I sign could be embarrassing.
That said, I assume the original article meant something more subtle. I wouldn't know, the link is dead to me.
This is what gets me. The climate change types seem to have both science and scientists on their side, but their predictions just ain't happening. They seem to enjoy saying "well, we tweaked our models, this time we're right". Meanwhile you've got the dipshits claiming the sea level will rise by 6 feel over the next century even if we stop dumping carbon in the air now. Not to mention issues like putting your temperature recording stations in the middle of cites, which are naturally hotter than a 12 square mile meadow.
Color me confused, and too lazy to spend the hundreds of hours it would take for me to properly educate myself on all the issues.
There are a couple of TF'ers who are pretty hostile, once they don't like you they evidently get flagged every time you post something and immediately reply with some BS. I learned to ignore them.
I'm no longer a TF'er, but I still get most of my online news from Fark first.
"I also firmly believe individual departments should be paying for them"
But they haven't been, often citing cost. This both encourages their purchase while reducing the excuse about cost.
So make it a federal mandate they have them by, say, 2018. The feds are good at forcing other people to spend money on things they'd rather not spend money on.
Why is this a federal charge? While I firmly believe all cops should wear cameras, I also firmly believe individual departments should be paying for them.
I switched my default search to ddg about 6 months ago. The results aren't as good as google, but 90% of the time it's good enough. Google is bookmarked when I need it.
Then again I use Chrome, don't remember exactly why but Firefox pissed me off enough to make the change about 2 years ago.
So you're saying we're at peak chocolate now? Can't we just build pipelines to get the crude into our factories? Maybe use solar energy in it's production?
Back in the late 60s/early 70's my dad brought home 2 books on computer programming. Each page explained a concept, and at the bottom asked a question. The answers were "foo, turn to page x", "bar, turn to page y". If you chose wrong the page explained why you were wrong.
I wish I had those books now. I asked dad several years ago what happened to them, he didn't know what I was talking about.
You miss the point. If 100% of our gas tax went to roads and bridges we'd be golden. Instead it goes into the general fund, where it gets pissed away on politician's whims. Raising the gas tax in California does nothing for roads and bridges.
Gee, 0.001% of consumers are now buying gas guzzlers so PANIC!!!! Meanwhile the rest of us drive as little as possible and enjoy saving $10-20 a week on gas prices. I live in California. The problem with raising the gas tax is that money goes into the cesspool that is the general fund, instead of being dedicated to roads and bridges. How can giving the bozos in Sacramento more money to piss away ever be considered a Good Thing (tm) ?
Seriously: who or what interest does the state imagine it is "protecting" with this license?
Did you miss the part where they charge $75 a year? That's all the "protecting" they need.
I've lived in CA most of my life, been wanting to leave for a few years now. The only thing keeping me here is dad, I won't leave until he's gone.
That said, the first 6 years of my parent's marriage they lived in a dozen states (dad worked for the military, they moved him like a PFC). The only state they both hated was Florida. Not due to politics, taxes, or any of that other stuff. It was the bugs and the weather they hated.
I spent a couple weeks in Key West a decade or so ago and enjoyed it tho.
Except they lose sync after a minute or so, thus after 2 minutes 30 seconds they're all playing a different song.
If God wanted us to be brave, why did he give us legs?
Back in the day Dr Dobbs, Byte, Embedded Systems Journal, and Computer Languages were the 4 I read every month.
Can I expect a black guy in a virtual white cop's simulation to shoot me as I experience being a black dude in same simulation?

Somebody took that link out back and fed it a fist full of Valium. It's not dead, but it's comatose.

I find I reliably get most of my news, and fast, from fark.com. Beats bbcnews (ok), yahoo (sucks), cnn (ok), and abcnews (ok) consistently.

Taser (tasr) is selling most of the cameras to the cops. Looked into buying some a month ago, wish I had.

I think the idea was to get a cheapie this year, learn to fly it, hope it lasts a year, and get a better one for less money next year.
If I knew which 6 NPAPI plugins were used I'd know if I cared or not.
That whooshing sound is my sarcasm flying right over your head. Of course the major loser in these things is the consumers.
the consumer comes out ahead in all this, amirite?

As opposed to....what.. not fixing roads?

Indited in 2011, served a 5 year sentence, and now rebuilding your life?

So you bang your gf for 73 seconds, then the porn star comes in to finish her off? Got it.
/ why does this summary inspire so many penis jokes?
