    Well yes, kinda.

I have much more respect for a talented criminal than a bumbling fool. I'd assume most people would see more admirable qualities in the person who had the brains and didn't go about his business like an idiot.

Flagrant or not, these people deserve to get caught.

"Murder's OK so long as you hide the bodies real good?"

Well if I read about a guy who dumped a 3 week old decomposing smelly body in a trash sack and thought the rubbish collectors wouldn't notice the body - I'd laugh at the guy and think he was an idiot. That's just a fact of life.

Whereas a guy who rowed out onto a huge lake and dumped a weighted body with all kinds of fishfood attached, had arranged an alibi and stolen millions, had gotten the now dead person to say they were leaving town for a while... well, respect for a job well done.

Both are abhorent to me. But the first guy's just a fucking idiot and I'd laugh wholeheartedly at his capture. I'm scared of the second guy.

Can One Electron Hold Infinite Data?

    Yes.

(though it depends wholy on the detail in which you can measure the state)

Imagine an arrow. It can spin on it's centre of gravity 360 degrees. If it points directly left the bit value is 1. If it points right the bit value is 0.

Going clockwise, pointing at the bottom half is for values the start with 0, the top half is for bit values starting with 1. Both have 180 degrees freedom of movement. Breaking the 180 degrees of each half into 2 points (3 sections) defines the second bit value. Iterate.

Keep going and breaking smaller and smaller sections to define further bit values. 60 degrees down left would be 00, etc...

Any real world thing (a bicycle for example) has an infinite number of possible states and your ability to reap binary values stops only at the limits of your measuring equipment.

(you know, I spend too much time amusing myself.)

MP3 doesn't pick up on the small clicks and such (Aphex Twin sounds awful on MP3). I took several key samples of five second length from several songs and ogg was much cleaner sounding; in comparason to the original CD than mp3. MP3 has awfully little contrast.

My vs was file size for five seconds. I encoded several files and screwed around with features trying to get equal sized files. Ogg fitted a higher bitrate and sounded more accurate (it didn't get everything but it was definately better than mp3).

The other test I did was 128kbs and again ogg sounded more accurate; with a smaller file size (~20-30%).

(no I don't normally do tests, I just thought if i'm going to waste days encoding CDs I may as well do it in a better format)
