I don't know how we've gone this far by flat out ignoring the rights of citizens and the priviledges and retraints given to government.
I think this government is no longer American. It no longer abides by the supreme law of the land. When we are not allowed to let even our elected officials speak- something is seriously wrong. Our country is out of balance.
I agree. There is no zone that disallows the freedom of speech recognized in the Constitution. It is not a right derived from law, nor can it be taken away by any law.
I think the source posting is just another sheep that needs to wake up. Sadly, Mr. sheep is one of many. This reminds me of a despair.com poster-
You people can fix this without killing people, by simply voting with your head.

Re:SUSE 9.2 and Novell Linux Desktop: Differences?
on
SUSE 9.2 Released
·
· Score: 1
The difference, as far as I've read, is that 9.2 is GPL. The Desktop business version has novell proprietary workstation stuff on it. Like their NDS clients and other jazz. That's as far as I can tell.
I've noticed that cell phones have a harder time with being scalped than land lines. They are also very easy to change now that the law allows for phone number transferrs between telco's.
But if you are stupid enough to hand out your phone number to anyone at all, or trust a company that sells off your info, then you get what you reap. No getting around being a appeasing idiot.
OK, you spent some thought or alot of thought on this, so I'll help congeal what you've attempted to here:
"While one could argue such, the evidence rarely bears this out. In most cases, its simply because what every political scientist knows, that American is fairly well homogenized in terms of the sociopolitical spectrum, and there's only really room for two major candidates."
Wrong. If you have ever met a Republican or Democrat you will know immediately that they are not the mainstream of this country. If it were up to them we would all be dead in equal parts. The people of this country that keep it afloat are the ones that value their liberty and take responsibility for themselves. Traits that you will not find in either "mainstream" party. You aren't looking at what a person is, in and of themselves. You are looking at a label.
"People who are faced with supporting a minor party candidate, but still want their vote to count do in fact feel that their vote is wasted if they don't go for the electable candidate who best fits their sentiment. But that's academic."
Yes, it is academic- but not logical. As I've posted earlier, I made that mistake. But there is no point to it. If we aren't given the option of Approval voting, then we must vote for the one right candidate. Voting for a turd will always yield a turd. You stand a chance if you vote for who's right for the job.
" That doesn't mean that I have to like Saddam Hussein. It just means that the legitimate interests of the United states are not served, nor are the legitimate rights of Americans and Iraqis respected, by invading and occupying Iraq."
He didn't avoid any evidence in his reply. I don't think you are grasping the undercurrent of the libertarian concept. If Saddam were to touch us, his country would be destroyed in total. If Afghanistan were to touch us, they would be destroyed in total. Not taken over, vaporized.
I don't think you understand what he's saying. If you touch us, you will die. That is the primary focus of government in this label called Libertarianism. We would not kill Iraq because they did not attack us. They attacked Kuwait. Kuwait is not the US. We don't care. Simple. Leave the rest at the door with the gay ass liberals.
"I'd like to know what you'd do to provide a defense from asymetric nuclear threats."
Defense is primary. We would already have had defensive laser tracking systems to vaporize incoming missles if a Libertarian were elected 8 years ago.
"This may be one of the few areas where taxation must augment the free market in leveraging tarriffs on polluting processes, and it must be applied to imported products. As we recognized with Kyoto, an unbalanced environmental policy will only encourage companies to move to third world countries and pollute there, which affects the global ecosystem while sending US jobs away."
Wrong. You cannot pay people to not rob you. You must either have the death penalty in place, and/or market incentives(NOT Taxes) to make the land we all live in healthy. Turning it to shit kills everyone, and should be set to paid by the polluter. Kyoto proves one thing. Without the bill of rights and the constitution, market forces will take precedence. This falls under the right to Life. As does abortion. As does murder. As does genocide. No government on Earth provides this protection in total except our Constitution- and we don't even adhere to it. How shitty is that.
The short answer is that the penalty is not stiff enough in this country or any other. When we are the only one's left with clean land/water and mostly clean air, then others will emulate us. And that's the short of it. For the most part, you were close but slightly myopic about the topics. You can't see the forest from the trees, in some cases. But, it's a place to start. Take care.
I think this will resolve itself. While it is yet another kick to the nuts of the common aging consumer, I don't think the demand is there anymore.
I fall into the 18 to 36 age group, and at the current rate of folks not watching TV- There will be nobody left to care about it in 15 years. Most of this age group- which consititutes the future and present of the US Male population- don't watch TV anymore.
It's all internet or work driven for them. TV has become irrelevant. You can download a movie not even in the Theatre's yet in under an hour, and project it on a 20X30 wall in the comfort of your own home.
This isn't the future. This is now. People are building these into their houses before anything else. No commercials. No waiting. No concession. Complete liberty to watch what you want when you want. That's the demographic HDTV and the broadcast DRM flag are up against. It's already too late for the industry. They missed it. The golden rule of technology is- the more you squeeze, the more you lose. In this case, they are squeezing the elderly only. And that time is finite.
I don't use Yoper, but I'm just trying to figure out something from the responses listed below.
Does anyone here have anything intelligent to say about the topic aka Yoper?
Are you jerkweeds bored, retarded, or just lacking in experiencial knowledge as a whole. I'd like to hear some details about this distro, and not how gay your debian/slackware/gentoo/wtfever 5 years to compile POS OS is. Please advise.
So now corporations have to actually supply the demand, rather than monopolize and artificially inflate it. That sounds like piracy and business are a marriage made in Heaven.
How do I vote for more of this "piracy" stuff again?
I think all the previous responses pretty much summed up the answer. To that end, let me clarify what they are all trying to kindly tell you.
You have more faith in government than you do in yourself. You and your fellow man are insepid weaklings, a rabbid hoard of amorality, and a vacuum of all that is good and right in this world. Goodness can only come from a chained mob that is forced to be good.
You need to take note of what you see around you. People know right from wrong all over the world. I personally find your lack of faith disturbing, but not at all unique. You don't know any better. The only thing that I can add to these responses is that you should think deeply about what your addiction to outside control is costing you and the one's you love. In short, are you a man or an animal?
I voted for Bush in the last election. And he won, as we know.
But the point that the hopeful brought up clarified a stance that I hadn't thought about previously- which is odd for me(really). Where the metal meets the meat, you have to vote for the right no matter how small a chance for a favorable outcome. Outcomes are made in baby steps and are cumulative.
Vote the right way and vote that way consistently. I screwed up last time. I admit that- I just didn't want that self-absorbed BS'er Gore in office. But never again.
The fact that America or any other civilized country cannot compete against outsourcing seems to escape alot of you armchair "work will set you free" fucksticks. I'm German, and I know exactly what that means. Where I came from 6 Million people didn't know what that meant. They do now.
This is not a level playing field we're up against. We are competing against State sanctioned slavery in some very big ass parts of this planet. It seems that money comes before human rights, even when you are an American. The fact that everyone is treated equally even if we don't have a red dot on our forehead, or set our wives on fire, or kill people with a different opinion, abort all of our daughters, enslave the one's that survive, et. all. You get the picture. Now, let me paint you another one.
It's all OK. You see, as these armchair Arbeit macht Frei supremacists have pointed out- It'll all just work out for the best. Just.. Like.. So...
I don't mind finding a piece of a chinese kid in my 5 cent noodles every once in awhile- it's cheap! I don't mind knowing that the 50 Indians that are learning linux on www.linuxquestions.org are building the new US supercomputer for nuclear missle testing- It's cheap! I don't mind that the Chinese are clubbing their citizens to death in the middle of town because they were using the Internet when they should be copying Doom3 CD's.
No, I don't mind at all- DO You Know Why Johnny?
Because corporate America/EU are going to have their very own slaves. These new slaves are called YOU!
And YOU can get these slaves for the low price of whatever you want- because.. heh.. get this- They don't have rights!! These idiots don't even have a Union! The best they can do is blab on IRC that they're working 110 hours a week with 2 IT guys running 2500 computers in 3 states!! If they start bleeding out of their nose, just make up some excuse like- "You're a crackwhore drug addict!", and fire them! Sweeeet...
Isn't that a real growth opportunity! I thought you'd like it.
Now, where do YOU go to get these completely hapless and powerless YOU slaves? That's the gag! Odds are- You've already got them. All you have to do is turn off the water, and lock the door- and they'll work until they drop from exhaustion or a heart attack (YMMV(tm)).
And remember, that guy next door could be your next YOU slave- so keep your chin up! You're competing with the Big Boys Now! Arbeit Macht Frei!
Let's do some rough esitmates on what is needed to create this explosion. The feasibility of which, I leave up to you.
For the 2.5 Mile wide mushroom cloud to be made of anything conventional, other than a clean or unclean nuclear device, you would need approximently 35 Kilotons of TNT.
This is 5 Kilotons less than the explosion over Hiroshima by the nuclear bomb named "little boy". I would like to know what explosive of non-nuclear origin made this cloud/crater.
If anyone has any other conventional explosive measurement for this sized explosion, I would be glad to see it.
For s short backgroud: http://mothra.rerf.or.jp/ENG/A-bomb/Hi story/Damage s.html http://www.facetofacemedia.ca/NDpne.html Take care.
So what we have here is precedence in a very very bad way..
If somebody breaks a law(copyright? for fucks sake?!) in any country, the country with the harshest laws gets to extradite the accused? Even though they broke no law in their own country.
This will not work. I am breaking the law right now in China for saying,"Communist's can suck my Ballz!". Is the US gonna give my ass up to them because they now wanna incarcerate me for life?
This is flatly wrong. I think it's time to extradite the DOJ for crimes against sovereign nations and their citizens.
It's good to see this. I don't think the cpu cycles will be an issue according to moore's law. But, the issue of going blind by default needs to be worked through.
Do we need to set up a fund to have an artist make these damn things? I hear it's like 200K and a few years of work to do proper font creation. Perhaps a touch up to freetype fonts might be a faster way.
I just don't want to break any laws while trying not to go blind(apple/MS patents). Anti-aliasing has helped a bit in some situations.. but fonts seem to still be a turd. Suse I think even made their own type for their distro- SuseSans, etc. In any case, I'm open to somebody smarter than me giving some recommendations on how the community at large can have kickass fonts without going to jail. It seems to be a thorne in the side of linux userland. Again, I'm open to suggestions.
Do you know what a remote desktop is? You can run any and all programs you want fullscreen/thin client Desktop on 40Kb/s. That is huge. Citrix can do the same at 25Kb/s.
There is the same bottleneck at opening up multiple sessions on Citrix as any other thin client tech. Multiple sessions isn't the point. One session at modem bandwidth is the point. You publish a desktop with any and all of your apps on it and you are done.
The difference is this. Citrix is $12,000 per 20 users. This is free. Are you grasping the possibilities now? Is the./ effect seeping into your brainstem? Either way you don't administer any users- so it doesn't matter. But for those that do, it matters.
That guy went into a rant on the Defcon stage and got pulled off for the same comments. He must really be angry- but angry and dumb is no way to go through life. A FBI gun at your head hurts more than a packet.
He should keep his mouth closed if he's gonna do this stuff. It's a felony now in this crappy country. And having it run by Democrats won't make it less of a felony. Or less of a country of crappy laws.
As they seem to devolve, I just want to hold up my hands and give a nice golf clap to the folks that seem to do everything in their power to shove a stick up the ass of linux gaming. Thanks Guys!
Now that they don't give anything back for eon's, and tag their crap with the gayness of primate DRM, they can sit back and know that they've made life just a little bit better for.... nobody.

In any case, if Icaza went to work for Microsoft, I would not at all be suprised. And it would not affect my plans for the Linux server and client in the slightest.
How about they clone John Kerry, and kill him off a few thousand times in experimentation. He's voting for it. Let him reap the reward.
