well, since AIX, and most other unixes(such as HP UNIX, etc), do not have source available, the only way to change a parameter is to have a tool to do it!
actually each individual area that Nell visited in the kingdom turned out to be a Turing machine, and then it turned out that the whole kingdom was a Turing machine!--I read these books far too often--i've now moved it into the books written by him and his uncle under the name steve bury...the particular one I am reading at the moment, interface, seems oddly appropriate to be reading, as it deals with this election, if I am adding things up right(written in 94, says that the president after clinton is running for office again-as at the time it was not known that clinton would be reelected that would imply that this election, right?)
anyway, I am now done rambling about things that have little to do witht the topic at hand!
actually, the past is not predictable, it was observed--we saw and remembered what happened--although I know nothing about the game of life, I am sure that it is observable, thus we can know (or predict) it's past, in the same way we know our own.
actually I just preordered it, and am now going to read the one linked to above--I figure that at least I have bought it, or whatever---anyway, must go feed my Neal Stephenson addiction now
no it means that you want to vot for everyone in the Dem party, except for in the presidential race, in which you would like to vote for bush--this would be the quickest way to do so, if that is the way you felt
maybe I am wrong about this one, but I have always thought that flex time meant that you work 8 hours a day ( or 40 a week), and that as long as you get those hours in, it doesn't matter when they are--so if for example, you worked 10 hours today, then you only needed to work 6 tomorrow, an d if you like to work between 6:00 and 3:00, then that is fine, as is working 10:00 and 7:00.
At least this is what it meant at my last job--by the definition that you give I am on flex time now, even though I work from 4:00 to midnight--i thought I was just on the evening shift
i've got it down to an average of about 5 seconds--and I don't feel like I am working at this--is it just me or is the maze algorithm a bit too simple(not that I could do better--but I am not publishing it)--all you have to do is aim for the biggest white spot, then towards the top corner from there
well, if only.5% of people watch the cartoon network, than yes possibly
(for your info-it's a cartoon talk show on the cartoon network based on an old cartoon that I remember watching when I was like 12 on nickolodean?)
It seems like it was intended as a system to distribute information over cable TV (like pay per view?, but with on demand access to anything in the database)--but the way the patent is phrased, it could be interpreted as not just applying to webservers, but to the internet as a whole. This seems to be the key bit, from the patent:
The EUS may transmit a query to the Server manually and/or automatically for the purpose of initiating a process in the Server (e.g. data compression, indexing into a very large database, etc.), which requires the high speed processing, large capacity and multi-distributed data storage, etc.) which are typically preferred at a Server.
note:EUS is End User Station
There are also bits that seem like they describe routers etc...the whole method of getting the data from client to server....the main difference seems to be that it allows the process to be transmitted in bursts(for instance once a day), but it allows for it to take place at any time, and with any frequency--the intent seems to be for some kind of on demand information service through cable TV service
anyway,I hope some of that made some kind of sense....to see the patente, go here
Just curious--how does bad ram affect your harddrive---I ask due to the unexplainable(by me) problems I have been having---I was chalking them up to a bad ide interface, and was gonna get a new mother board (want to up grade to an athlon anyway)--but I would love to find out before hand that it is my RAM, as I hate buying a replacement part, only to find out it was the wrong replacement part!
Aren't the described applications closer in their workings to things like gnutella?--considering that they are not based on a central server and all--and as far as the chat client goes---you can do that with gnutella now!--just take a look at the search monitor window!
;-}
no kidding!--I just spent the last 3 or 4 days trying to get rc2 to compile...cause their installation crap doesn't look in $QTDIR for qt--instead, it just looks in/usr/lib--took me forever to figure out I needed to delete the old stuff
It is not any more possible(or less possible) to become you with a smartcard than it is with a copy of your regular ID--for instance the reason you need a picture ID is to verify(from the picture) that is is you--but of course they can stick a different picture in there, and pretend to be you to a bank, or anything else--the same is of course true with a smart card.
Besides that, if the data is not stored specifically on the card, how is this different from the magnetic strip on the back of my drivers license. If it is stored on the card, it won't be a terribly long time till people will be able to modify it, but the odds are good that any system will check with a central server
ship it to me then!--been looking for a copy of that damn book forever--apparently the good mr Stevenson would rather it fell of the face of the planet---oh well
I have to say that you were most likely modded down due to the reputation you have--going after others grammer all the time probably pisses off a few people--I know I always thought of you as a troll, till I saw the your posts above.
this is a quote from the movie "clerks"---in the original it is said in response to the clerk saying that he only sells cigarettes because it's his job--so really what he is saying is that it is silly to say bad things about people who sell cigs, or telemarket....or at least that was the point in the movie
hah--just a couple minutes ago I was watching "pushin tin"(john cusak, billy bob thorton as air traffic controlers) at one point they use a spiffy 3D thing to show what is going on in the guys heads
you have to be kidding, right?--you do know what you are talking about?--that's right I didn't think you did!--the kernel is the operating system!--put just the kernel on a disk, and it boots, and takes care of all that important operating system stuff--redhat is a set of tools that is being provided to you preconfigured, with the operating sytem!
put it at an angle other than 90 degrees to the ground , and you sure can feel something!--you can feel it trying to return to a more normal position--it fun!
typically you can give any date after the current when asked for a expiration date, and have a transaction go through--they just check to see if the card is expired!

speaking as someone who worked at a medical school...that wouldn't help much. Most of the doctors I knew were boneheads too start with.

I have to say--it's a nice site!--I am bidding on stuff right now! I hope you don't end up shutting it down, as I know my SO is going to love it!

I just started rereading this damn book for about the tenth time,if there is another version, than I want it!
