    Same with my parents...in the 70s and 80s. But guess what? I need my kids' SSNs to claim them as dependents now, starting in the late 90s. So your premise that laws never change is flawed, therefore your conclusion that olsmeister's claim is false is flat-out wrong.

    We're still struggling in a recession, even if we don't fit the exact definition of one. So of course anything offering cheap or free entertainment and services is going to be popular. But you're right, in the long run, coupon services just aren't that profitable (the Greensheet has been around for years, and while it makes money it never made anyone rich). Simply adding "on the Internet" to that business model doesn't suddenly make it more profitable.

    I hope this happens for two reasons. One, after everything that's happened in the last 15 years, investors seem primed to look for bubbles wherever they can find them. It's been looking like Treasuries might be the next Big Thing; if that happened, it would accelerate the destruction of the dollar. I'd much rather speculators charge after some stock than my country's currency.

    Second, my career really started at the beginning of the last bubble. Maybe a second one bring in some new blood to the industry, especially my step-son (who'll be graduating college in two years and is gonna need a job).

    I have my FB locked down so only my friends can see me, and only friends of friends can even find me in searches. Accomplishes the same thing without having to deprive myself of the social contact the site provides. Win-win!

    This chart shows historic government revenue as a percent of GDP. See that little uptick in 1980? That was the increased revenue resulting from Reagan's tax cuts. So try saying Reagan destroyed the infrastructure with his tax cuts again, I dare you.

    "Depending on the market?" Are you kidding? I have the choice of Comcast cable, AT&T DSL, and Clear wireless.

    I'm in a different market. I have the choice of Time Warner, AT&T (DSL, Uverse, wireless), Verizon (DSL, Fios, wireless), Clear, Speakeasy, Earthlink, and numerous mom-and-pop companies. All of them have different plans with different features and different prices.

    Face it, just because you live in a crappy market doesn't mean the entire system is flawed. So like I said, quit your bitching and go start your own if you don't like the options available.

    What we need are many ISP's that's called Capitalism. What we have are 1 or 2 ISP's that Feudalism.

    You're wrong on so many points. First, depending on the market, there might be dozens of ISPs in any given area. Second, it all depends on the market, which is free-market capitalism.

    So quit your bitching or go start your own competing ISP. It's not that hard to do.

    Without physical evidence, it's just her word against his. Since I don't know either of these people, I'm disinclined to believe one over the other, and am willing to grant someone the benefit of the doubt that they are not a rapist (even if the person in question shows questionable judgment in other areas, like posting inappropriately on Facebook).

    Women need to STOP destroying evidence of a rape. If you are raped, you suck up whatever feelings you have and GO TO THE HOSPITAL AND HAVE A RAPE KIT DONE. Yes, it might be more intrusion on a delicate area. Yes, it's emotionally difficult. But you know what? If you don't, THE FUCKER WHO DID IT TO YOU WILL DO IT AGAIN TO SOMEONE ELSE. Making everyone woman, everywhere, who fails to do this complicit in future rapes committed by their attacker.

    Victims of crime have a responsibility to help ensure the criminal involved goes to prison. Failure to do so is tacit acceptance of unacceptable behavior.

    Oh, and lest I come as more of a jerk than usual, the empowerment one can feel from taking charge of a bad situation like this simply cannot be measured. It's a lot more beneficial in the long run than sitting on the floor of a shower, crying to oneself.

    Ah, but you assume that the only goal of such a move would be to gain the nomination and take over Obama's job. I think the real goal would be to garner enough support to be a serious challenger, then force Obama to take her as his new Vice President. Which would put her on even surer ground for 2016.

    Clinton is clearly positioning herself for another Presidential run in 2012. Obama's track record on openness and freedom for the Internet is abysmal, but few if any of his transgressions came out of the State Department. If Clinton can separate herself from her boss on this issue, she can make inroads to the young and energetic netizens who helped Obama so much in '08.

    If I'm right, expect her to start making noises about cutting the budget and ending wars in the near future.
