I was reinstalling 10.2.4 on a Rev A iBook and as I was rolling up the various updates to get things current, I had to authenticate several times. I've got some punctuation in my password and suddenly it was rejecting my pass. I thought it was a hardware problem with the keyboard. I finally figured out what happened, rebooted, and things started working ok again.
Yeah, well he can gripe about the lack of communication between developers and publishers but I don't see him solving the problem. Try and make any contact with his company CEG. All you'll find is an email address that nobody responds to and voice mail that never give a call back.
We've got a game with a large following and great reviews and would like to find a publisher to help us reach critical mass and get the game into stores on and to console platforms. CEG might as well be a P.O. box in Fairbanks for all of the response you get from them. Very unimpressed. I mean, even if he thinks we suck, I would be nice to at least get some response from CEG.
All head and no bread.
Seamus, if you're reading this, drop me a line at tranquility@mac.com. (Not that I expect to hear anything).
Although an 8600/300 speed comparison might be interesting from a historical perspective, it's not that relevant these days as a benchmark point. A dual G4 running OS X is a whole 'nuther animal.
I don't think that's right. It's one machine, one license of the OS. Apple doesn't enforce it beyond faith in the user adhering to the EULA. OS X is $129 for a single user, home users can get the "Family Pack" for $199 that (legally) let's you install it on 5 systems (is that where you got "5 users?") but I think that this is meant for home users only. OS X Server is $499 for 10 users and $999 for unlimited.
I don't think there's anything in the EULA that says you can install it on up to 5 Macs. Of course, you can, it doesn't check or anything. But that violates the EULA.
Yeah. NeXT did that trick and did it quite well. I was expecting remote displays in the OS X public beta but it's still not there. VNC fills the gap somewhat but it's pretty slow. I think I head once that OS X can't do it because of how they had to rework the display layer so you couldn't grab stills from DVDs, which Apple had to to to be license complient. Or maybe it's because they are not using Display PostScript.
For one, Apple bought NeXT where much of the work was done. It's not like it's just a BSD port. Beyond that, probably over 80% of what's delivered in OS X is original Apple work.
I can't figure out why "Open Source" advocates bitch when companies comply with license agreements but still gripe about ripping things off. In Lindows case, the original content is probably the opposite of Apple, about 20%.
Plus they have their update service they charge money for that is just a pure ripoff of freely available software. They may comply with license agreements but to me -that- seems sleazy.
Nice ripoff of Apple's web site look and feel. Seems like Robertson is incapable of doing anything without leveraging off of somebody else's efforts. Linux, W/Lindows, mp3.com. What an info-age parasite.
Golly, I just never knew that Microsoft was such a superior platform. Don't know how I could have missed that. Thanks for letting me know about Microsoft and PCs!! They sound like they make really cool stuff!! And Cheap!!! WOW!!!!
Thinking that Symantec would release a virus for increased profits is absurd.
That would be like having the US selling WMD technology to other countries and then invading them later for having it. What responsibly sane organization would do that?
Another benefit to being a Mac user and also avoiding MSN like the plague (that it is). If they are anti-M$, why is OperaBork only available as an.exe? I don't use Opera and I don't watch Oprah.
If they use Linux as the base OS and then write an application that runs the microwave but don't do any mods to the OS, isn't it true that they don't have to make the source to the microwave app available?
It should be illegal, but I wouldn't expect any laws to be enacted now except those that strip us of even more rights. After all, who wants a little slave that can't be a perfect drone. I hired you, I own you.
Considering this economy and unemployment situation, even the most talented might end up out of work for an extended period of time and bounce into red ink a few times. Now they finally get a chance to recover and the employer turns them down because, heaven forbid, they need the money. Oh well you deadbeat, it's homelessness for you and your family.
I didn't mean for you to actually do that. A propensity for lashing out probably wouldn't work as the connerstone of a utopian society. See, it's already falling apart.
If everyone was willing to give away everything for free, then nobody would go wanting.
I don't think that would work. There's not enough excess material/energy/desire/selflessness to make that happen on any large scale, except maybe with some specifically targeted drugs.
It might work at first, but then someone would read something they disagree with and tell that person they don't like them. The target of the dislike probably wouldn't give a shit, and then what would you have?

You're awful testy.
Had the night off from Burger King and Mom didn't let you
take the car out so you had to stay home again tonight?
Well, at least you've got a super cool PC. Maybe one day,
you'll get a life to go with it. What a sad little boy.

I've updated several Macs here; a Rev A iBook, a Cube, a 350Mhz Sawtooth, a Dual 500 and a Flower Power iMac. All went perfectly.
Maybe these users are using hacks that work outside of published APIs?
I doubt that it's open anymore considering what's been happening these days.
Probably can't even get close to the facility.
