If you've got an ATI card you might try looking at the GroovyMame build, paired with some modified ATI drivers you can have around 200 native resolutions with dynamically generated modelines for essentially 100% native refresh rates/resolutions on most games.
An MMOG version of Animal Crossing might be enough reason to convince my wife we need a Wii. I think the outline of the clock is burned into the corner of our television.
It would be nice to see some sort of standardized, low-range, wireless digital video transfer protocol, then let the receiver worry about composite, component, HDMI, etc. I've noticed the references to the terrestrial digital video streams in Europe and the like... Sure would be nice to stick a powerful computer (or in this case console) in another room and a dongle on the DVI out and have a set top box that lets me switch streams like channels, without having to run wires.
Somehow I doubt that would work well for battery life though.
For years I've also used the backwards smile. Somehow I found it more natural to use the same two keys, in reverse order from one another to write both (: and:(
The problem I always had back in the day with the maps I tried to make of our high school was that it took so long for the Quake 1 BSP tools to complete the Viz stage. Our school had very large open areas, which I always assumed would make great places for attractive powerups like the megahealth or the quad damage, since there would be no where to hide upon picking them up.
The first thing that crossed my mind upon reading the headline was that some previosly open-source game to rival Halo had gone closed source or the development team walked away..
I came across a video on usenet this afternoon that appears to be some sort of menu software running, assumingly, on an xbox. After navigating a few windows the operator fires up Quake 2 and plays through a demo1 and a DM match.
Or until you get something fixed, come to the chatroom as listed on the page. Several of the patrons run fileservers with all of the remixes. Granted it's not the easiest way to get the music you want, but it's better than going without.
Various forms of 'biofeedback' games have been around for at least a decade. I can clearly remember a stereotypical british woman 'playing' some such game on the program Beyond 2000 on the discovery channel in the early 90s. If I recall correctly the game had you start off as a fish or some such 'low' creature, and as you relaxed you evolved into various higher forms of life. Thought it got a little weird near the end, I belive the final form had you turn into an angel and then a star.
Perhaps the ultimate form of relaxation is to turn into a space baby.
They'll just disappear before they ever have to worry about bringing anything back to contaminate us or them. And even if they DO manage to have a successful mission NASA's track history with things deal with Mars just screams ecological disaster on some level or another.
Yes, soon someone will use such techniques to generate a nice little background console app to scan Slashdot to automatically fire out First Posts and "Imagine a beowulf cluster of these!" on the relevant topics. Truly the best possible use of data mining. (:

I'm always looking for good drone and ambient. So agreed; make a torrent, link us.
Thought? I was STILL thinking about it until your post D:
They're just waiting to make the first post from the device be a first post on a story.
I saw the headline and my first instinct was to look for the 'ohnoitsroland' tag...
Never thought I'd miss the guy.
Storing the game on a flash chip sounds conspicuously like games based on cartridge technology.
Starting to come full circle, eh?
You mean this?

The links are right on the side for downloading in various formats.
Except for that the clip isn't Baa Baa Black Sheep..
I've found last.fm to be a suitable replacement at least for finding interesting new music. That's where I've got tons of my own music: http://www.last.fm/music/Children+of+the+Monkey+Machine
Is this really that big of a surprise? I seem to recall from the original story that prior to this she had never even owned a computer.
I've never owned a space station, but I imagine if I suddenly came into control of one, I wouldn't get it put to as much use as someone with a clue.
Is it April already?

At least this gives me another year to find a throw-away laptop capable of running the thing... Somehow I don't think a RagePro Mobile would cut it.

And not a single cute anagram out of IBM, AMD, and ATI..
:(
Maybe "Mama Bid It" or "AM BitMaid"

Silly context, always breaking things.

Anyone know anything about this? is it legit?

the hype.
So the ISS is still having problems. Big suprise
there. Such a wonderful idea, a shame they've
had so many set backs and problems.
Where's my damn flying car already.
Please tell me someone wrote a GTA mod for
Quake 1 some where way back when.. I want to
get points for stealing cars in real life.
