Actually, Foxconn is a well known manufacturer for Dell and HP.
I agree... Never attribute mallace when the stupidity is more likely. And, in this case, the author's insults causes the collective hair on the backs of Foxconn to stand up and they became defensive.
Is is a problem? YES. Was the bad behavior by the poster justified? NO.
As intriguing as this is, I, for one, would like to see something like the X02 foldable notebook in an open format.
This is the first innovative design that I could actually use in a notebook design. My portable requirements rarely have me typing much. The real estate provided in such a design would make the size very versatile.
But, make make a version with a processor and memory usable for the western countries.
I don't turn off my Linux system and I leave FF on all the time since I'm running an AJAX app that updates all the time. Because my eyeballs aren't staring at it, doesn't mean I have to turn FF (or my system) off.
I've been following the reviews for the iPhone. Once you get past the "GeeWhiz" features and dig into the reasons why you'd want a SmartPhone, there's lots of holes to find. Brian Lam discussed this in a pretty level-headed way:
The real elephant in the room is the fact that I just spent $600 on my friggin' iPhone and it can't do some crucial functions that even $50 handsets can. I'm talking about MMS. Video recording. Custom ringtones. Mass storage. Fully functioning Bluetooth with stereo audio streaming. Voice dialing when you're using a car kit. Sending contact info to other people. Instant friggin' messenging. Sending an SMS to more than one recipient at a time.
I expect Apple to fill those holes pretty quickly. But, it's going to take V2 HW to fix some things I'd want like external storage and bigger internal storage.
Apparently, you don't know what you're talking about. I'm a team lead at Dell with a dual CS & Math degrees. The gentlemen on my team have either CS or EE degrees. We're developing firmware for next generation servers.
Am I concerned about this announcement? Yes, for the people's lives that will disrupted to simply increase the stock price. But, not for the engineers. We're still hiring.
Quite whining David. You have a good product. But, your comments sound like some kid whose toys were taken away.
Looks to me like you need to partner with someone to be bundled with their stuff. Can you get integrated into an application like Firefox that everyone needs? Or, can you partner with, say HP, to provide this functionality?
Ran this on my Father-in-Laws spanky new Dell. Clean as a baby's bottom after doing so. Dunno if this specific piece of software was on this system tho (did this over Christmas). But, a VERY good piece of software whether it's a Dell, HP, Sony or other manufacturer to take your system back to the way it was before they got their hands on it:-)
The issue here is that Google / Dell beat OpenDNS to the punch. Both accomplish the same purpose: when a user types a malformed URL into the address bar, they get an "enhanced" experience.
OpenDNS is bummed that Google figured out a way to make money off the proposition. OpenDNS should have thought of that first.
Agreed. No mod points when I need 'em. Can someone mod this guy up?
I'm betting that Sony didn't understand the extent of the issue and it was a typical knee-jerk reaction to say, "you fix it" to the DVD manufacturers. Credit the Internet in rallying to this issue that helped Sony step up to the plate.
Can't tell if this is a joke or if you're serious. ASCII-based formats solve the issue of data transmission between two unknown sources.
binary formats suffer from the issues of data representation and Endian-ness. Are your Integers 64-bit or 32-bit? Did you write your values with a Power-PC or with an Intel-based processor?
Like it (or not), XML is becoming the defacto standard for data representation. I'm dealing with this in embedded CIM implementations. Are there better parsable formats? Possibly. But none that are so universally accepted.
As they say, "The great thing about standards is there's so many to choose from!".
I'm surprised Oracle didn't solve this. They could have paided the "in kind" taxes so that there would no burden on this guy. My employer did this for my relocation and sign on bonus.
No, Internet is two doors down...

yeah, I did... The article didn't describe it that way...

Well Done!
How come I never have mod points when I read something worth mod'ing on Slashdot?
I saw this over-and-over. It didn't make sense 20 years ago. It doesn't make sense today.
Anyone with mod points want to throw one to him?
The ol' "That Hurts, so don't do it" reason?
I don't turn off my Linux system and I leave FF on all the time since I'm running an AJAX app that updates all the time. Because my eyeballs aren't staring at it, doesn't mean I have to turn FF (or my system) off.
Hope that helps.
Wow, you totally missed the point of this post and the article dude.
The poster can transfer MUSIC and VIDEO to his player via USB without anything special. It shows up as a USB device.
Very well said.
How come I never have mod points when I need 'em.?
That's 99c for the song PLUS 99c for the ringtone. More 'BONED' than not.
Everything you ever wanted to know about the most significant automobile of the 20th century can be found right here.

Our 2002 Odessey was built in the US. Quality is on par with that of the domestics; and that's NOT A COMPLIMENT.
> 1500 in repairs -- not counting normal maintenance-- in the 5 years we've had the car.
We won't be purchasing another Honda.

How 'bout some constructive suggestions?

That was a lawsuit allegation. Any sources besides the disgruntled student?
She wasn't denied her teaching certificate due to this photograph.
References please?
I agree; there's something fishy here. I, too, would like to know more about this.
Anyone got a snapshot of the MySpace page?

In Houston, I saw the Art Car Parade and someone shaped the CD's into the shape of fish scales. Gonna have to look for those photos.
Are you from New York?
This would have more credence had jimmy wales not offered the guy a job and didn't stand down when shown the evidence of the kid's deception.
Wikipedia has lost all credibility due to this incident. Not sure how they'll be able to restore it.
