  1. Re:Robots are used all over on Robots in Hospitals · · Score: 1

I should also mention that I saw one of these things get into what I can only call a "stand off" with an old person.

The Old Lady was in the robots path, so it stoped and started beeping at her, and asked her to move. The lady was so scared by it that she just froze up. The Robot of course couldn't move so it just kept on asking her and beeping at her to move.

This went on for about 3 minutes until a passing nurse saw her and got her to move out of the way of the robot, which then continued on it merry way.

Well, sort of anyway. I work in alot of hospitals all around the country. Anyway, at one of the hospitals, I get in the elivator on the first floor, push the button for the 3rd floor and the door closed.

The elivator stops on the second floor and one of these robots get in. It took what seemed like forever for it to get in the elivator and get turned around. Once it had turned the right way in the elivator it then proceeded to make a bunch of tones.

The doors closed, and the elivator began to move, it then bypassed my floor went all the way to the 8th floor. Where it got out and left me standing their.

Apparently at this hospital the robots have priority on all elivator trafic. It simply overrode my selection and put in its own.

    Damn Robots.

While its not the perfect solution, it does work. Plus you can see exactly who the spam is coming from.

So if all of a sudden you get a bunch of spam on a spacific address, you just kill the address.

It does have problems though, you really can't use it for a conact on a website since you would probably go over the limit rather quickly.

But hey, it a little something to fight against the most commom way you get on spammers list.

I really do hope Mennasotta builds this, it looks like a good trade off between cars and trains. Being able to stop anywhere on the route is a major plus.

Anuther thing I like is that you ride with who you want to (no more of that drunk sitting beside you, or scared to take out your laptop in fear you will be robbed), and finnally the cost is significabtly lower than a light rail solution.

Of course all this depends on if it will work, a fully working system hasn't been deployed yet, although by the looks of it Mennasotta is pretty darn close.

BTW one more thing, due to its small size and, many think (including those that don't support it) PRT will be ablt to operate without subsidy. That last part is still up for debate though.

This does seem like a case of Government using its power to tax to leverage something that it can't do legally. It wasn't right when the Clintons did it, its not right when the Government of New Zealand does it.
