  1. Why? This is not supply and demand. on Music Exec Fires Back At Apple CEO · · Score: 1
Even when all the songs are the same price, the top 100 songs already make a lot more money.. why? Because they sell more.

The old tunes barely make anything. Why? Cause they sell less of them.

The only reason they want to charge more is because the can... However, if they raise the price of top 100 songs, I bet they will sell less. People will start looking at song #101.. or start looking for other sources. Does anyone know a good p2p software? Or how about the russian mp3 site?

Believe me. I've searched and search for a good, small mp3 player. No one has yet found me a better capacity / price / size d player.

The shuffle is also better in the following ways:

    - Better sound quality (considering it has the best of any other popular player out there) Shuffle sound quality

    - Shuffle is smaller in length, width, depth and of course volume.

    - It actually has the nice shuffle feature. How can you "compete with the shuffle" and not have shuffle?

    - And shuffle was here almost a year ago.

I thought you meant "DRM Free" by "more accessible"... how is WMA more accessible? Don't get me started on the subscription services.

You can use gloves and cold hands with the shuffle, which is what this is competing with, no?

Did i mention that this is longer, wider and thicker than the shuffle? They make it look like a lighter so that people think that it's as small as one.. but it's not.

    Shuffle

This is probably the main reason I got the ipod shuffle, because it could actually play music in random order. It's amazing how many players miss this capability. There are a lot people that just like to load their player with a bunch of music on random and leave it play forever.

    Cheaper? Than what?

The ipod shuffle can be had cheaper at online discounters.

    DRM Free? In what universe?

The ipod plays mp3, as does this. However, it supports evil DRM music (DRM 9, 10 or PD-DRM & WM-DRM) just like the ipod (DRM acc)

The only thing this has is a screen and FM. I don't need either thank you.

Unfortunately, this is like a year late to compete with the shuffle.

That's just dumb. This is not supply and demand.

If a song is more popular, they make more money on it, even if all songs are priced the same.

Variable pricing is just to juice consumers out of more $$. They aren't going to do it if everyone switches to cheaper oldies. About the only thing that the price should be based off of is song size. Go to allofmp3.com and see their pricing.

from their FAQ: You can also set the price to zero and allow users to access and play your video for free. This will potentially give you wider distribution than those who choose to charge a price. If our costs to play your video on Google are extraordinary, we may charge users a fee (if you've specified zero as the price for your video) or take a larger revenue share of the price (if you've set a price greater than zero for your video) to cover some of these costs. For example, if you upload a high definition file that's 500 MB and it becomes extremely popular, we might charge users a fee instead of giving it to them for free or ask you for a higher percentage of the revenue from the price of the video. Please be assured, however, that we'll let you know before we add a price or charge a higher revenue share for your video.

That really seems fair enough. Seems like they'll charge the user, not the uploader, if the video is big and becomes popular.

  12. Re:Get rid of patents on No PodBuddy for iPod lovers · · Score: 2, Interesting
Our JamPlug products are patent-pending implementations of a clever, but very simple idea: one musician, one instrument, one connection. The JamPlug mission is to create tiny, convenient products that interconnect one instrument, one microphone, one channel of sound. And, the growing family of JamPlug products presented here is a good look at the direction that we are headed with this brand.

So it looks like DVForge is patenting their other ideas. It means they know about patents and can afford the lawyers. I'm guessing they were dumb and didn't patent this device and are now must trying to get some publicity.

    • Some banks / credit cards use generic domains for loggging on. Citibank uses a domain called "accountonline.com" to login their users. Use one domain please.
    • Promotional emails use 3rd party to track clicks. Bankone uses a domain called bfi0.com redirected to https://online.firstusa.com/bank/ to track clicks from email. I honestly couldn't tell if that was real or fake. It asks for SS & card number, a sure sign of phishing. It looks faker than most phishing emails I get. I honestly thought it was fake till I researched the site.

RPM, GZ source and maybe a binary. I'm all for a better package manager... but I think that developers have decided that RPM is better... at least easier to distribute their apps in.
