However I beleive that it is only cooking in aluminum that does it... thats why cast aluminum pots are very bad. and aluminum foil. but their not gunna tell you that are they. nope. you buy too much of the stuff as a society for it to be a concern.

thats why i never cook anything in aluminum - and try to avoid anything served in it. like microwave foods.

Remember when China threatened to bomb us if we interfered with their taking over taiwan? no... that cuz large media didnt report it.

Remember when there were reports of Chinese soldiers on the CA - Mexico border dressed as Mexican Army?

Remember when China had supposedly stated that they have been gearing up to go to war with the US in the next 20 years?

Remember when Clinton handed over control of the PANAMA FRICKING CANAL to the Chinese?

Take a look around you and see how much this country relies on china for our daily resources and everyday life.

No think about how many flipping people they have to throw at a war.

I would like to see some sales figures from them to see if its a success. sounds to me as though there is one guy within walmart who is actually pretty cool and is pushing for this - and was just given a "test" run to see if selling these machines would be a good move. however sadly - they prolly will not sell very well because like me - few people will think about buying a machine from walmart.com - and in a year or so they may stop.

  8. no no no on Would an Ad-Sponsored OS/Desktop Work for OSS? · · Score: 2

I think the down fall of quality in every industry comes when its pushed by marketing droids rather than user needs.

like all the previous crap we heard about push content a few years back - and how all the marketing types jumped with glee at the hype behind this and attempted to setup failed business models around it.

push content is just a bad idea (tm). Don't just agree to this bs because they have attached open source to the idea. its like wearing jeans just cuz they're diesel or CK or whatever... it doesnt make it a better product - it just makes the user forgoe real quality for branding.

the mentality or /.'ers is to like open source stuff - but open source is fast becoming a brand as much as anything else. just cuz it may be open source or free does not make it great. AOL cd's are free - but we dont like em. (I know bad comparison - so leave the comments at home)

anyway - you get the point.

what would *really* make sense is built in anti spyware OS. one that allows you to block any and all traffic to companies and sites whos URLs are not physically typed into the nav bar. also make it impossible for ANY url to pop-up ads or other browser windows. and to notify you when it find a URL that is attempting to do so - and show you a confirmation box that says "this shitty URL is trying to load this "XXXXX" url in a new browser - allow/deny once/deny all?"

  12. BAH! on Video Games Found To Decrease Brain Activity · · Score: 2

I highly disagree with this finding. My brain activity is greatly increased while playing games. It causes critical thinking on levels that you may not find out in the "real" world on certain occasions.

    For example:

Strategy: when playing games like hitman, ghost recon, and other strategy based mission games - you really have to think about what it is your doing. Paying close attention to the environment around you and (in all the really well made games) the sounds around you. You have to think about the best way to go about a mission so as to hopefully complete it with a perfect score.

I like to play all my missions with a "one shot - one kill" mentality. I dont like to waste any more than one bullet to the head on my victims - and I like to have a 100% head-shot rating.

This type of thing can be found in certain fields; military, police etc... but joe computer nerd's only oppurtunity to experience this is usually in front of the machine. And some of us get really good about this kind of thinking...

Imagination: Many games lift your imagination and make you think of things - how you would like them - the way it could be etc... you dont get this as much with TV - when watching TV you just do that, sit and watch, and decompose. TV is not interactive no matter what marketing babble you hear... it is a totally passive activity.

Character development and forethought: When playing games where you are building a character over a period of time - MMORPG or NWN style game, you have to think about what type of character you want to become - and how to grow that character into that. That does not take "decreased brain activity".

and many other things - but its time for NWN so all my thought-cycles are being re-directed, so I'm outta here.
