As great as it is that he wants to donate to charity and all...
Why would you want a check that you can't cash anyway? I could save the image he has on the EBay page, print it out and frame if all I want is a picture of a check from Microsoft...
UT demo on my linux box runs faster than on my win98 box.
Of course, I made a "hack" in my.Xclients file to load UnrealTournament instead of KDE when I want to play. Then the resources are mine for taking! mwa ha ha ha ha ha!
It's not that easy in Windows. I'd imagine a reboot or 3 would be involved also.
I don't believe it's the last good shower EVER. I've read it will be the last for about 100 years or so, because the comet's orbit will be altered somewhat when it passes near Jupiter. Astronomers believe, however, the the orbit will "somehow" return to it's previous path after about 100 years, and then our great-great-grandchildren will get some great shows again.
No offense, but I thought Nerf Arena Blast was lame. I thought it was going to be cool because it was based on Unreal's engine and all, but the fact that I can't kill anybody is disappointing.
The November issue of PC Accelerator has a good preview of the game and demo. Looks like there will be CTF, with "eight CTF-specific maps" that will ship with the game.
My father, brother, and all of my paternal uncles are construction workers. My father is a backhoe operater, and the rest are laborers, of which I was every summer until I graduated from college.
I wouldn't insult them by comparing the job we did to typing on a keyboard. Try standing on new, white concrete in 107-degree heat.
I was lucky enough to get an education and out of the family rut, and I never take that for granted. The minute I even think of complaining about writing code for xx hours a day, I just remember the days I worked the same hours shoveling sand in pouring rain. If I came home complaining of carpal-tunnel, I'd get smacked in the back of the head, and rightfully so.
PLUS I WAS at the edge of a hole when a backhoe cut a gas line. Luckily it didn't ignite, but the burst and hissing scared the shit out of me. Realizing I could have been killed in an instant at 18 because of a shitty job made me want to get out more. These men do risk their lives and often have no way out.
A slowdown or inaccessibility of the Internet is an inconvenience, no one gets killed. We all need to get our priorities straight.
Good to see a local boy in the news. I agree, however, that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. It IS a premeditated crime, and he deserves to be punished.
HOWEVER: The fact that he will probably get a stiffer sentece than most violent criminals is at the heart of the issue for most in the tech community, and deeply worries me.
It's sad how people fail to remember that before the Beatles did what they did, NO ONE ELSE had. Ask any serious musician conscious at the time and they all say the same thing: Sgt. Pepper blew their mind.
If you're "grandma could figure it out", why didn't she? I could just as easily say "I could figure out that seatbelts might help save lives". But I give credit where credit is due.
We're all entitled to our opinion, and our tastes obviously differ. However, I'd like to know which Beatles track sounds like a "cat caught in a vacuum cleaner." I'll defer on the subject of rock ballads, since I don't like any of them anyway.
And I did not, nor will I ever, give props to Marilyn Manson. I think angst, teen or otherwise, is overused and often phony. I've enjoyed a few of NIN's tracks, and don't listen to KISS enough to have an opinion, except that their SuperBowl show was a prime example of selling-out.
I can't stand the Who or any of there songs. For mind-expansion, I love the originality of the Beatles. For rock and beats, I must give homage to Led Zeppelin.
is there any timeline for SW trilogy? that's all I'm waiting for. my brother has DVD so I bought 2001. pretty sweet hearing HAL talking in French. the seamless switching of things like that are really cool.

What kind of present is a bootleg CD? Unless I suppose that person really wanted TPM.
I'd considered giving my brother bootleg games, but thought it to be a little tacky. I dunno. If it's a present I usually go and buy it.
And burning a CD doesn't really qualify as "making" a gift, like woodworking or anything.
He has been blind since a young age, however. I wonder how much he remembers seeing...
I believe it's spelled "r3t4rd3d".
Is there an official alphabet page somewhere so I can learn their "k3wl" language?
uh-oh! and I've been using it to send my PIN number for the ATM machine!
(hopefully you get my attempt at humor)

You are truly the king of kings. The fastest download I've ever had!

this worked like a charm! thanks a bunch.
