The article doesn't mention WinDoom (Doom running under Win 3.11/WFWg). I remember drooling over the screen shots at the end of my level editing book (can't remember the name). WinDoom eventually became Doom95 (I have a copy). Ported by our favorite evangelist, Alex St. John.
As a Quake III level designer, I can't use the ATI cards at all. Why? Because the blurred textures don't let me see what I'm doing correctly. Aligning textures is hell on one of those cards.
I realize that the design community is small compared to the playing community, but ATI just abandoned us. Is that right for a vendor to do?
As a level designer for Quake III, I would assert that it is art. Why do I create levels for QIII? Because it currently gives me the widest and most extensible 3D palette. In fact, I'm currently working on a level that is a tribute to a paint/scultpure artist.
Given the number of hours involved in creating any game and that the components of most games are called "art assets", the subject becomes moot.
The hard part is convincing the un-initiated. Rock 'n' Roll was questioned as to it's being music.
Actually, I am running IIS. I'm not infected though. Why? Because I know better than to use the default directory sructure and scripts. I know better than to let the "Administrative" (back door) site run at all.
IIS is a small problem. Brainless admins who want an "out of the box" solutions are the BIG problem. Go educate one.
I can verify that yes they do give you a micro outage. I have a DynDNS account and the software that runs it mails me when a new IP is detected (its in my Coyote Linux firewall logs too).
I have had 218 IP changes for my "always on" connection since June 2, 2001. The changes seem to be random except for a regular one every 64 hours - the rollover time I guess. most IP changes coincide with a minor outage (less than 2 seconds in most cases).
I live in the proverbial 'Hood' (Oak Park in Sacramento if you must know). I want to try this and set up a web cam! Anyone know if I can legally do this if I put up some king of notice?
Only the bush administration can create commentary like this:
"The president regrets the violence, believes the violence is regrettable, the tragic death and the injuries to the protesters and to the police officers is highly regrettable,"
I regret that my regretful president doesn't regret stepping out of english class. Thanks for the note on the Italian riots, even if it was a bit off topic.

According to this article at The Register, MS has run out of licences sold to merchants. This does not mean that end users have lapped them all up.

If Microsoft is going to be a closed-source software industry
Let's not give them the pleasure of being the entire industry. They are a manufacturer.
"I don't think the outlook will be necessarily as bad..."
Did you consult the Magic 8-Ball for your post?
Isn't the web already a success in America?
I just happened to notice that I didn't have a problem without waiting for the patch (most MS patches are slow to arrive).
Yes, it is a production box. The most important one... My own.
Go find someone else to slap around god of tech.

Yet one more reason to support NPR. It's all I listen to now.
So what's to prevent the system from taking shots of pictures in books? Hold up a Jerry Garcia biography to the camera? How about Marilyn Monroe?

NO. I'm suprised he and ICANN haven't come looking for the domain name.

Perhaps the Sac users should prepare for another rate hike.

Is this a double deal?
