    Not true. Only the people who had not already opted out of unaddressed paper spam (i.e. the 70% most likely to believe propaganda and advertisements) received this letter.
    In this way the government 'accidentally' failed to provide the option not be be registered to the 5 million citizens who were most likely to object.

    Nobody buys MS that doesn't want to.
    That's a ridiculous statement. I have bought and wiped clean close to a hundred MS pre-installations because getting either another os or applying for a refund was more expensive.

    I think that translating the EULA to be legally valid in different jurisdictions is actually more difficult than translating the words to different languages.

    You would be completely right if their value was determined on a level playing field.
    Unfortunately a lot of people live in circumstances that force them to work below fair market prices.
    As long as a company has the liberty to move jobs to those 'cheap spots' while its employees haven't, there is an assymmetry in the relationship that will make the workers in both locations pay for the increased profit margin of the company.

    Upgrading hardware or optimizing software will both meet the customers needs only the hardware upgrade is $2,000 and the software optimization costs $20,000
    Except that the software optimization will 'upgrade' all hardware the customer will ever buy in the future by the same factor. And that the more efficient software is not something a competitor can buy off the shelf.
