    Uh, the USPS is NOT a 'branch' of the federal government. The Postal Inspection Service is a federal law enforcement agency, but USPS itself is no longer run by the government.

    Yes and no. I just did work for a client, and his Samsung printer only spoke PCL5, I believe. A little trickery with ghostscript and a port redirector (REDMON), however, and you can make any printer grok PS. Google for "OSX Windows XP print sharing", and that will put you in the right direction...

    Of course if this Samsung engine does speak PS, then ignore me. :)

    Er, yeah. That's only if your state adopted that particular portion of the UCC. (see your "State/Local Statutes")

    Just because something is 'Uniform' doesn't mean that it's in force in your state. What, are the UCC police going to come and yell at Target or Walmart if they don't play along?

    Maybe, just MAYBE, if folks in your town payed a flat fee for water, and you walked down the street checking everyone's outdoor water nozzles, and took a drink where they were turned on for use, MAYBE that analogy might relate to the story. But the unlocked door analogy, especially in this situation, is NOT THE FUCKING SAME THING.

    Seriously, I had an old 1984 Volvo, and it only picked up college radio stations if you drove by the college. Now I have a new car, and it's got a CD changer. I haven't turned the radio on once -- traffic news is useless in New Jersey anyhow. (Of course there's traffic, it's 5pm on a friday afternoon going to the beach!)

    Not only does it have a terrible name, but I saw the instruction booklet for the Pepper Pad, and it looked completely useless. I don't quite understand who would want a not-quite-laptop sized, but not-quite-palmtop sized device that doesn't really do much else except play media. When my boss asked the salesgoon what it does, she said "it plays movies...and acts as a tv remote!" ... when he asked why someone would want it, the salesgoon said "it plays movies...and acts as a tv remote!" From what I saw, it looks just about as usefull as a speak n' spell.
