  1. Re:There are so many inaccuracies in this article on The Lifespan of The Nintendo Entertainment System · · Score: 4, Informative

I've fixed the inaccuracies you've mentioned. The 4K figure came from a previous writer who added the CPU RAM and the PPU RAM to get 4K and a bad mental hex-decimal conversion ($0800 = 2048 not 4096). As for the 16x16 thing, I'm so used to square sprites that I saw the 16 and assumed 16x16.

DW4 was the largest ROM I'd ever seen; checking again it seems I was mistaken. That's fixed.

    Thanks for the corrections.

There is in fact a linux program that uses the dscaler deinterlacers called tvtime, although it is early in development and not as user-friendly.

You're wrong. Playstation emulation is possibly more advanced than N64 emulation; it's just that the games are so much bigger. See here for a usable PSX emulator.

it's a way of life. Seriously, though, I agree with you. Unix is the Unix philosophy, not the Unix code. IMHO, Unix is the best way that anyone's come up with to run a computer because it can be anything for anybody. It's quite telling that every major OS except Windoze will have some connection to Unix after Mac OS X comes out, be it a kernel, an API, or the standard Unix tools.

I used to be a Mac user, and when I was a Mac user I felt the same way about what is part of the OS. I don't blame the author of this articls at all for his feelings, because that is entirely part of the Mac way of viewing the world. However, I would call what the author calls an OS an OS distribution or OS package. Unix is definitely not an OS distribution.

    Long live the Unix Way!

How many misconceptions can be listed in one paragraph? I think the Anonymous Coward who posted the last one broke a record! Mozilla's purpose is to build the most full-featured browser on the 'market', and I think they're doing a fine job. Emacs wasn't built in a day.

Last time I looked, Usenet was packed with activity. The previous poster has obviously never really needed Linux help. And the statement that everyone uses web-based mail these days is just crazy. I, for one, find web-based mail infuriating.

As for not producing a browser now, the get-the-product-out-now mentality is the one that has foisted upon us so much bug-ridden bulls**t. Do you want a buggy browser now, or a stable one in six months?

I'm not using Mozilla now, but I sure will when I get home! M16 was greatly improved over M15, and I expect M17 to be the same. C'mon team, keep up the good work!
