  1. Re:Availability of the DNC on Successful Do-Not-Call Complaints? · · Score: 1

As for the assumptions; has anyone had a erally positive experience with telemarketeers? I mean, they called you around 17, just after work but before dinner to offer you a really good deal on something you needed and were helpful to compare it with your current offer? And said "Oh, well it was a pleasure anyway, enjoy your dinner, mr. Callee" when you kindly turned down the offer?

I hate to say it, but yes, I have had several positive experiences with telemarketers. Out of the hundreds or thousands of calls from telemarketers, I have recieved 3 that I enjoyed, and pretty much all others have annoyed and/or pissed me off.

The 3 I enjoyed were just that. They called, were easy to hear and understand, clearly told me who they were and who they were calling for, were polite and respectful, had a sense of humour, and were very quick. When I told them that I was not interested and asked to be put on the DNC list, they acknowledged and repeated the statement, apoligized for the interruption, and wished me a great day.

Hell, the last two times that happened I interrupted the TM before they hung up and told them that even though I wasn't interested in their product, I really appreciated their attitude and professionalism.

Oh yeah, and I didn't recieve another call from any of those companies for at least 12-24 months.

Back during college I made an experiment out of it. I found no benefit at all from drinking coke or another beverage. In fact, it was usually harder to stay awake drinking it, mainly because I don't drink nearly the volume of coke that I drink water. So now I use water to keep me up. :-)

Oh, come now. That's just being unrealistic. You can't expect to exercise reasonable control over everything in any operating system with only a mouse (or whatever).

I suppose that if you wanted to get technical, you could actually do it with only a mouse, but it'd be a pain in the rear. You could always use the character map to copy and paste your words with the mouse.

My point is that you can do what you need to with Windows. But you have to work around certain issues with all operating systems.

Really? How do you delete all files with an A in the second position and a .BAK extension?

Pretty easy, really. Wildcards still work just as well, so here's your answer:
GUI: Use the Find dialog and use the wildcards to find all the files you wish to delete. i.e. "Named: ?A*.BAK", Select everything that comes up and delete at will.

For the record, I prefer DOS myself, but I'd like to point out that most everything is possible to do fairly easily in Windows, including what you mention. The only thing I've ever had problems with is renaming files with wildcards, but I've heard that they've fixed that in XP. Haven't tried for myself yet though.

Well, IANAP (I am not a pilot), but I've got a couple of ideas.

First off, when you autorotate, it's kinda like you're storing up your lift for when you need it, by reducing the amount of drag you have on the blades to as little as possible.. Well, the closer to the ground you use it up, the more time you have stored up already, thus more lift. Granted, you also NEED more lift at this point, so I'm thinking you'd still have to be lucky.

Also, let's assume that you ARE a lucky bastard and you will have plenty of lift at whatever point you chose to start autorotating to completely stop your descent and maybe provide a little extra lift so you start ascending! I'm not sure how possible it is, really, but I'm willing to make a couple of assumptions and play with them. My question would be, where would you prefer to use up that lift, 20000 feet up or 20 feet up? Granted, perhaps you could keep autorotating, and come down in short dives. Anyways, I probably don't know what I'm talking about.

Okay, I have a couple of things to add. I don't have my references available, so I'll leave the math to someone else.

We don't need a nice computer, just use a minimal and use resources elsewhere on the wireless network. Also, as people have pointed out in other articles, why not use hydrogen instead of helium? Yes, it does have a chance to explode, and I'd be a little leery of letting it check on the kids at night, or help in the kitchen. But that would provide much better lift at less volume. Or another for lift that idea I read about a long time ago in a sci-fi book (about colonizing Jupiter) was to use a vacuum as lifting power. I'm curious as to how feasible that actually is.

Unfortunately, I don't run into many of the "nice cops" out on the road. I've found that many of the cops in my area get pissed at me no matter how polite I am. Interestingly, I have found that many of the cops in this area (Georgia, USA) react better if I use a southern accent when I speak to them than using my normal (slightly northern) accent.
