    Can I suggest you tell the anecdotal people that the people's phones that the government wants to access might have skin darker than a natural tan?

    But don't word it that way cause that's racist. Show them photos of sample people who own phones that the government might want to access

    Strangely consumers haven't been trained yet to make their purchases at the same rate forever after an album is launched. Ie, an album released during the three months is taking a larger hit than yoko ono is.

    I despise oracle as much as the next guy. But they really haven't done a bad job with java. Incremental improvements yes. But not bad improvements. And their databases are quite nice if you have money to waste.

    It's just everything else they do other than java and databases that is horrible.

    A flat tax doesn't have to be regressive.  For example consider a flat 90% income tax, but the government pays for health/housing/food/education could be progressive.

    Better people is easy.  Just do random selection.  It may not result in optimal.  But it would on average deliver 'better'.

    Obviously a percentage approach is stupid if the problem being solved is time based.  Per transaction fixed cost is the way to go if the goal is to discourage frequent trades.

  20. Efficiency is great until the other team is in power.  As such, I'm a fan of beauracracy.

    Also, I've generally found that beauracrats have good intentions.  They just can't execute efficiently.

    Developer wages suffer from a simple rule - you can't make more money than your boss.

    And since every developer has 2+ bosses, the extra expense of a developer raise quickly gets out of hand.
