    Well seeing how deep linked IE is to rest of system it's hard to just update that also MAC OS X has the same BIG updates that windows has.

    local storage is need for DVR + buffering / local downloading of shows from Amazon and Netflix etc. As lots of people don't really have the bandwidth to live stream 4K or higher.

    ATT has a big cell network + satellites + FTTH (Fiber to the Home) andFTTN (Fiber to the Node). Apple does have not any of that.
