For the review of the United States Patent office, I would like to submit a revolutionary new concept that will sweep the global economy, and virtually empower any person in front of a computer. The creators of this revolutionary new idea would like to submit for patent the concept of the "On button". This Device when placed in a computer case empowers the user to initialize all of the synergistic components of a personal computer, including but not limited to hardware, and software.
We Believe that this "on button" is so revolutionary, and cutting edge that this idea must be protected from computer manufacturers who would be interested in the "on button", and the "on button" technology. Most notable The Apple Corporation; who has already patented "one click shopping" technology. The creators of the "on button" believe that with out the "on button" technology, "one click" shopping would not be possible, since the computer system would not be "powered on", with out the use of "on button" technology.
I don't think that these models are geeks.
The first one was all trendy looking.
I bet these chicks date jocks in the real world, and think that warable PC's suck, but took the job for the $$$.
I wouldn't mind waring one though (the computers).
It's funny, there are people at work who have no experiance on networking. There is one person at my office that is a brand new MSCE who *HAS NEVER* networked a single computer.
She has never installed NT server on a single PC, and thinks that unix is a program that runs on DOS.
She is also A+, and net+ certified(What ever that means).
I on the otherhand, have no certifications, and learned by trial and error. I have a pritty big network at my house, and I'm constantly building and deconstructing servers. I'm also one of her network admins.
I think that the core of the problem is that people get greedy, and that most I.T Managers are not technical people. I moved up in the company (I started in a non technical posision) but I would always ask my network admin questions about how to implement things. I also offered to work for free doing anything just so that I could see what he was doing.
This brand new MCSE knows that her certification is useless, and after discussing it with her, she tells me that she fells ripped off by the company that gave her the cram class.
I rembember when being A+ ment somthing(in 96 there were two people in my office that had it) , and MCSE's were considered bad asses. I hope that the linux certs don't become useless in a few years.
You know, i've been thinking about this for quite sometime now. Most people who live in geek compunds (that I know) arn't really geeks. They are just kids with alot of cash, who all they seem to be intrested in is how many fps they can get quake to run on.
I was really turned off when I went to a friends house where everyone was running dual procs, and GHZ Athalons, but all they wanted to do was watch TV on their 21 inch monitors.
I mean none of these guys could even code. I doubt they could even write a batch file!
When I asked about linux, they all agreed that linux sucked, becuase you couln't play games on it, and that their win2k internet connection sharing routers ran just fine on their spare celeron 600 system, whith only 128 megs of RAM.
They Laughed when I told them that exept for my personal workstation, most of my systems don't even run pentiums.
I honestly don't think that most geeks live in geek homes. The fact is that coding takes a long time, and alot of dedication, I don't have the time or interest to be watching a DVD in one window while playing quake in the other, while thinking about how big of a man I am for running the fastest PC on the lan...
Thats just my opinion.
Nope Fred moony used to hang with microsoft, and his assertion was, that linux was bad becuase it had more bug posted on bug track that win2k.
The funny thing is, his math was off. He miscounted the number of bugs, and by his argument, windows sucked big time.
I think that we should go, and take away everyone's TV that can't expline the principals of how a tv works...
And food too. While were at it, lets form a political party, and we'll round up everyone that doesn't "deserve" the right to live on our country. Hell we can just shove them in an oven or somthing.
"should the privledge of 100mbit Internet connectivity be given to someone who hasn't 'earned' the privilege of having that type of influence on a public network? "
What a bunch of of eletist crap. If you can afford it. You can certnainly get it.
Asshole.
So do I I go 15 hours, and work 40 hours at work. I'm blessed to have a tech job where I can study in my cubical for part of the day while working on other projects.
Having Done support for Dr.s offices I have a good feel for what most small offices run. They will eather run everything off of one PC with win98 installed, or have a small winnt 4.0 network. A large segment (I'd say atleast 33%) still have lantastic, and MS dos 6.22. Most of these places do not have the time or money to be upgrading to win2k. Besides most small buisnesses honestly don't have a need for linux's amaizing capablilties, or win2ks bloated networking crap.
I wonder if you could run an AC tent and tubing from the back of a case to that little exaust fan that goes into my bath room....
I'd have to stock up on lysol though.
What ever dude, at least I don't have to reduce my self to name calling...All i'm saying is that it can be ported (even if it takes a shitton of time and effort). I'm sure that there were people like you when beowulf was being developed being all negative and stuff...
Since linux IS OPEN SOURCE....YOU COULD PORT LINUX TO SUPPORT 32 procs couldn't you????
I think that you've "just come off stupid to anybody knowledgeable enough to know what you were talking about".

So Do you know what it does coward?
I would hate having to lug my big ass TV around. I think that broadband would be the way to go.
Yeah....I bet you are.

Your a sorry butthole.
So do I I go 15 hours, and work 40 hours at work. I'm blessed to have a tech job where I can study in my cubical for part of the day while working on other projects.
HAHAHA, that reminds me of my job!
