I believe it is time the United States harmonized its patent laws with the European Union. This will foster more trade and have an economic benefit for both sides.
p2p would be SOOOOO much easier with IPv6 because there is no need for NAT, but since there is so much resistance to p2p it can't be used as an impetus to move to IPv6.
Hopefully, VoIP and VCoIP will catch fire and providers will realize that its much easier to provide these services without every user using NAT.
I'm a SysAdmin and at one place I worked, I noticed someone had written 'aaaaa' on their monitor. They wern't at their desk at the time, so I sat down, hit ctrl-alt-del and typed 'aaaaa' into the password field...
Poster has this right. It means "by law", it is similar to "de facto", which is "by fact".
I am also aware of this fact. WordPerfect embraced the legal community very early on, and made it easy to generate pleading papers in WP. Since there is a lot of inertia, it is hard to switch.
Many courts insist electronic copies are submitted in WordPerfect format.
Get a number of large Fortune 500 companies to commit to switching to Linux. Then hardware and software developers will say, "Hmmm... If I want to sell into these companies, I have to support Linux."

I had this problem too. A friend of mine, who attended journalism school, advised me to proofread a paper backwards to find errors. That way, you do not get caught up in the flow of the writing, and miss the errors.
Actually, the company who only wired two pair can get PoE for switches that provide PoE, but not external injectors. There are two standards for power, if the power is injected off the switch it uses dedicated pairs, if it is injected on the switch it uses the data pairs (phantom power).
[Ralphie is seeing Santa, only he can't remember what he wanted] Santa Claus: How about a nice football?
Ralphie as Adult: Football? Football? What's a football? With unconscious will my voice squeaked out 'football'.
Santa Claus: Okay, get him out of here.
Ralphie as Adult: A football? Oh no, what was I doing? Wake up, Stupid! Wake up!

Actually, you are not supposed to connect a classified computer to a network with non-classified computers let alone the Internet. If he found classified material on P2P, the guy who shared it is in a whole heap of trouble.
Email savvy people can't come up with a palatable solution. Most non-tech savvy have solutions that throw the baby out with the bathwater.
I imagine the great minds who make up the UN will support the idea that generates the most money for the lobbists of thier supporting country. So it looks like we are going to get a sender-pays-Microsoft or sender-pays-Verisign antispam solution.

All of the other costs associated with HD are issues of competition and market size.
These issues will fall like dominoes when $400 HDTVs are released.
Cheap screens = more users = larger market = more players who want a piece = more competition = lower prices.
