But if moving your mouse to the menue bar always triggers you to go back to the finder on the way there, how the hell do you find out what the command keys for any specific program are, much less use the functions that don't have command keys? I'd like to see this implimented in the finder itself maybe, but I don't see Apple ever putting it in for applications as aa whole.
Ok, so being I'm not the highest on there terminology totem pole, can somebody expain to me why journaling matters to me, and why its worth 10-15% of my system resources?
Interesting point. I don't think the US is obligated to care about tthe civil liberties of foergin nationals in countries that aren't here, so I'd be suprised if US law says the FBI needs a search warrent in te first place. If it did, what juristiction would it have to go through to get one?
No, I tihnk we can assume judges aren't stupid. "Biased, bigoted, make mistakes, work from thier own view point, have thier own adjendad" you can argue on aa case by case basis, but judges are rarely stupid.
I think there's a firewire-usb bridge you can add on to use up a firewire channel and take some of the load off your usb ports.
But I hear you. It took iomega way to long for to make thier stuff firewire. Disk dirve's usb, most of our burners are usb, palm connector, serial adaptor.
The thing is, everything on that list except the burner is fine for USB. Usb (even USB2) isn't designed for long sustained data transfer (i.e. burning); it works in bursts. Keep the little stuff on USB, and get the better stuff on firewire.

"I'd use a mac, but it only has one button":-)
and
"I got a website running on my coke can. Please slashdot it to a smoldering lump now"
Anybody think this'll actually get used very often? IN a wolrd that values simplicty of security, I doubt I'll ever work in a place that uses these. Not because I don't value security, but because I doubt the comapany would enough to employ these.
I think the biggest hinderance in getting Gbit to work right now has nothing to do with the machines, its the switch sofware. Have you priced GBit switches??
Also, for the record, thier low end machines only have 10/100. I think.
For the record, its a software based RAID, not hardware. Anyway,I completly agree on the use of firewire on thhe Macs. Itsa godsend. All you points, plus one I find can save me hours: target disk mode. Being able to boot one of your machines jsut like its a hard drive and get an absolutly sick transfer speed is great. Even wroks with imacs without GBit.
No, just like if you have a big sign that says open house on your door, and I come in, that fine. But it doesn't make me a hipocryte for not have a sign on my door saying the same thing, and being pissed when you climb in my window.
Wait, what? You expect Apple to distribute under the GPL , of all liscenses? Do you actually think Apple wants to give Darwin code to every person who installs OS X? You could make a good agument for BSD liscenses, but no way on the GPL. For Grandma nto to see a cd called source code to show up with her mac is reason ebnough to use a differnt liscense.
Bill's essentially trying to buy the allegience of the best and brightest students in America. And?
Just because I'm not on wellfare doesn't mean I have money flowwing out of my arse. Hell, I'd love to not be sending myself to college right now.
And so they do sometihng for the smart kids once in a while. That's bad? When was the last time you saw somebody start a program for tthe gifted and talented kids? Not in Maryland, you didn't.
And people wonder why other countries are getting ahead of us in scince and technology. Try nurturing the smart kids for once.

Since plenty of people hate that, I don't see that being a default. Ever.
Would be nice to have the option though.

Hey! I'll have you know that I make a damn good cappuccino when I work there on the weekends.
Actually, i don't think you are breaking a US law. You're probobly breaking Russian law but IANARL.

And? Its running on a machine he payed Apple for already.
uh, no. it's 5 to 10% a 5,000% markup on a $1 item would have the sales price at $5,001.
How's that GED coming?
Conveintly enough, Oreilly is publishing abook called "Mac OS X for Unix Geeks." Should be out sometime this month.

Well, since I just used the firewire port and the gigabit port yesterday at work, I wouldn't quite consider them useless.
Um, Darwin comes in an x86 variety, actualy...

But its the HR guys who filter your resumes for qualifications before they even get to anyone important...
Just head on down to your local book store, and grab a copy of "Starting Your own Classic Rock Station for Dummies"
Hye, you right! It does open in 2 bounces now. Sweet! It doesn't take much to brighten up my day when i have to work on a Saturday.
Not at University of Maryland, they didn't. You'd think at 1490 would have been high enough.

How about the 2 senators and a congressman or 2 from a small state?
