    I know that I once had a Mazda that had cup holders that only tripped the cup every time you turned. A little wire popped up when you opened the cup holder, and didnt go near high enough to stop anything. Well, almost anything. It turns out that Mazda was willing to sell a coffee cup that fit perfectly within the shape of this holder to never fall out. To the rest of us cheap suckers that refused their awesomely engineered cup, we could use our laps.

    they served in fucking afghanistan!

    the "got back from a deployment" part is the main thing. The details that occured are probably something that i dont agree with, but the signing up to serve the country, and do what your told by superiors during this deployment are things that, even if you or I dont see it directly, have an effect on our daily lives. The people that are out there doing this actually are doing a great thing for the rest of us that are sitting comfortably in our air conditioned cubes. Thanking someone for their service, regardless of their personal reasons for signing up, is just something that I do. I do this in airports, and I also do this for firemen and police officers who are directing traffic. Maybe it makes no difference, but maybe someone who is putting up with a lot of shit that is actually making my life easier can feel a bit better, or less shitty, about what they are having to put up with.

    please, with all the heart felt sincerity that you dont believe possible from my first thanks to the soldier, take all of your judgement and cynicism, and shove them deep up your ass while shutting the fuck up! and have a nice day

    I wish there was a way (besides voting them out) that the oath of office could be enforced. They all swear to protect the constitution, then undermine it on a whim. The treason penalty should be enacted after someone shows they are willing to skip their oath enough times.

    being caught speeding is an important piece of the equation. There may be reasons or circumstances that would make it ok for the car to have been above 65 at a previous point in time. With the current record of quality security officers, I fear anything that allows for lazy enforcement.

    I am not even trying to say that this will be the TSA, I am just commenting on the ability for the government to create a non-thinking heavy handed form of enforcement.

    all good until you hit a TSA minded check point that says you must turn over access to the data or you are not allowed to continue driving. You will not be allowed to turn around, you will have to leave the car in their possession. If anything on the recorder indicates that you have been exceeding speed limits , then thse will be ticketable offenses.

    The track record is too severe to trust our govt with this idea.

    I ask again then, what in your principles makes it ok for someone to subject me to significant harm that does not allow me to prevent that? Your freedom to swing your fist stops at my face. If you are actively engaged in behavior that can harm me, I should be allowed to do what I can to stop it, and prevent it from continuing.

    I had this reccommended to me just a few years ago. My daughter was on the way, and my doctor advised me to get the DTAP or TDAP or whatever this one is to help protect her. There had been just enough time since my previous tetnis shot ( with diptheria which reacted to me and hurt like hell for days) and the imminent birth, so I went ahead and took a second shot in 3 years... knowing the pain it would give me. Really, just a few days of advil to remove a risk isnt a lot to ask. I think the doc may not have said that all adults need it, but he did ask us to have anyone who would be a cargeiver to get it done.

    and by this logic, we have given someone the right to cause pain harm and hardship, up to and including death, against the will of those who did not want to be sick or dead. I am sorry, but the people who have to have a pokey shot against their will are suffering far less than people put at risk of disease and death. Both have something done against their will. Why do you side with the passive allowance of one team versus the active authority of the other?

    you forgot to add in the massively increased chances of getting the disease when herd immunity is removed. The increase would not be insignificant.

    good, it looks like most of the guess work is done. Set your staggered shifts and odd start times to accomodate not being on transit in those giant red blocks. That shows no need to never leave the premises for the duration of the games.

    if the entire idea is to be prepared for difficulty with mass-transit, then they have screwed up. I was in atlanta for the olympics when everyone panicked over transportation, and there were no problems, and Atlanta is a city that has all kinds of traffic problems when not inundated with foreigners! They may need to have staggered shifts and odd start times to avoid peak traffic, but otherwise this just sounds like panicked stupidity.

    I think this is what started the downfall. Someone at Sony, many years ago, came to this same conclusion. The strategy to avoid being just a hardware company pushed them to purchase media companies. Too bad that they forgot what they were , or tried to hard to change into something they are not. Next is to follow IBMs lead and just jetison most of the hardware.

    the valuable phrase was "the people that are actually responsible for the success have less influence". Jobs was responsible for the success both times that he led apple. Fiorina was not any part of the successful building of HP. Your example is prooving the GPs point to be correct. Sony will likely replace the CEO with someone who has been patting the backs of the people who have been leading the company down this rabbit hole. An engineer who is interested in quality is needed, not someone who will use the engineers to protect Sony's content from its customers.

    the netflx client also exists for a few select android phones. There must be something in the hardware on some devices that allows netflix to lock something. Maybe it is that my G2 has no video out?

    exactly. I had a guy once ( i moved away, cant use him now) that would look through my papers, ask very interesting questions, and find ways to apply laws to my situation. saved me thousands in fees and penalties in ways that I wasnt aware of. Some people are worth paying very well for the service that their knowledge can provide. This accountant had to stay current and remember years of experience to provide the quality service that he gave me.
