    I am not an expert of US laws, but in reasonable countries, there is a hierarchy of laws. An oath cannot be enforced against a law, and a law cannot be enforced against the constitution.

    And it is good to recall it sometime, the constitution cannot be enforced against the general will of the People. In other words, the Sovereign cannot adopt rules it cannot change later. Otherwise it is not the Sovereign.

    With a high-stakes career in academics, where one accusation could cause years of grief, the rule is that you never do anything with any university-connected female that could ever be misinterpreted as sexual.

    This is not universal, and I suspect this is even US specific.

    The idea that Europe or China could be a threat to US security is odd. What is the rationale behind this? I thought it was settled for a long time that no nation state would want to fight a country that has nuclear weapons.

    Snowden swore an oath when he took his security clearance. It is essentially the same one sworn by soldiers.

    The first thing he does is swear to protect the constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic. And finally to follow the orders of his chain of command and perform the duties of his position.

    Snowden was put in a position where following the last part of the oath would violate the first part, and following the first part would violate the last part.

    I will try to teach you something: Few people will teach you things if you first call them ignorant before they even lay down some arguments. The reaction you can expect is that people will consider talking with you is a waste of time, before even trying.

    The funny thing is that I am almost certain you will find some way to disagree with that and consider your attitude as open minded.

    For the ones that do not know about it, many systems coded the date as seconds from 1970/1/1, in a 32 bit integer. That will overflow on 2038/01/19.

    Using roundup ready GMO means roundup is used on the plant, and you get roundup in you food. Using BT-producing GMO means there is botulism toxin on your food. Are you sure about the consequences?

    Well they did not really escaped my memory and I can add a precision to your precision: the weak interaction bosons are W+, W- and Z.

    But are are gauge bosons fundamental particles? They are not used to build compound particles, this is why I did skip them.

    IMO there are speech that deserve censorship.

    In 1934, fascists groups almost succeeded a coup in France, their own divisions being the reason why they did not take power. France was leaning the same way as Spain, Italy and Germany, but decision was taken to forbid fascists groups in 1936. In the end, France had its own fascist regime in 1940, but a military defeat had been required to get there.

    Of course drawing the line between limiting the ability fascists ideas to spread, and abusive censorship is not easy and should be watched carefully by the people. But I do not think it should be bluntly discarded.. WWII taught us that some speech can really hurt beyond words

    I would also comment that we need to find a different way of expressing changes in ecology. It seems that any change to the ecological status quo is regarded as a problem or disaster. We know from the historical record that nothing in nature stays in a steady state.

    Sure, whatever harm we do to the ecosystem, the nature will prevail. The problem is just that a new environment may not allow human life at all.

    Change to the ecological status may indeed be a disaster for human life

    All major ISP do that in France since they installed triple-play boxes at customers home. The box does cable/DSL access with TV and phone over IP, and is also a WiFi router. Once you have an ISP controlled WiFi installation at each customer house, it is easy to provide the hotspot service.
