    In areas with municipal water supplies this reduces the burden on the drinking water supply. So I would say that this is still useful even in cities.

    In fact, there are places that regulate the opposite. If your property is paved over and does not absorb enough rainwater and dumps it into the storm drain system, there are extra fines/taxes.

    I was going to say something to the affect of, "there wouldn't have been an accident if she used handsfree"; but no, I doesn't sound like she even had the mental capacity for carrying on a conversation with someone in the vehicle and driving either.

    No I would not make off with property that wasn't mine and the fact that you would tells me call I need to know about you.

    You can't possibly say that. Lets say you knew you would probably get away without being caught. Lets say your parent or child was in desperate need of medical care that insurance will not pay for. Lets say the money was owned by those that use it for ill purposes. (they are bitcoins, after all) Can you really say you would not skim any of it?

    This is grey morality. Or what the rest of us call "the real world".

    What kind of idiot sues Lawrence Lessig for copyright violation? How did they possibly expect to win? Presumably the same kind of idiot that tries to kidnap Liam Neeson's daughter, or hijack the plane he is on.

    Perhaps the lawyer for Liberation Music (also, their name... ha!) knew he had no chance in hell and simply did not care. He gets paid either way.

    For a start, I doubt you understand what FUD means.

    I also fear you didn't actually read the article, just summary borked by Slashdot "editing".

    I'm uncertain what they meant to say, but I guess they meant either "Bitcoin Foundation" (Karpeles was one of board members there and now resigned) or "Bitcoin exchange" (i.e. MtGox).

    If the person was "checking their email" in such a way that always pointed the camera in your direction... yes. How do you know they are not recording? If they cant manage to aim the thing in a direction that does not offend anybody, they should put the thing away.

    The fact that you kind of have to have the camera pointed at people constantly, regardless if it is recording or not, is the whole problem with Glass.

    It's funny that drugs are so great when they are released by profiteering pharma companies. But smoke a doob and OMG what about the children! That pill there is many many many times the strength of heroin. It will undoubtedly create many many new addicts just like oxycontin. That pill will kill good people and addict good people. A company will gladly make money on that pill and market it with hundreds of thousands of dollars to doctors.

    We should all make pills for a living and profit off of peoples sorrowful addictions.

    It will also save good people terrible pain. What is your solution?
    Ban all drugs that anyone could be abused? (and to hell with anyone that needs them)
    Ban companies and doctors from making a profit? (and ensure nobody develops drugs or becomes doctors)

    I am not saying that the current practices of companies are not a problem, but can't we have some middle ground here? Regulate companies from abusing their power, while allowing them enough profit to actually develop new treatments.

    No need to find out why these people are in so much pain that they need a drug this powerful. This pill will make everything better! Healthy people are not profitable, after all.

    Says the person that has never visited a hospice in their life, or seen a loved one build up a tolerance to fentanyl that they cannot be awake and not in pain. There are people that are dying, and we know why they are dying... and there still isn't a damn thing we can do about it. (it's usually advanced cancer)

    But no, every new drug produced by pharmaceutics companies is part of some conspiracy to produce maintenance drugs and not cures.

    Unless, of course, you are in serious chronic pain. Then, according to Dr. Stephen Anderson and friends, fuck you. You are obviously faking it because if they can't imagine needing this drug in the emergency room, then it must be useless to everyone.

    It is simple enough... the interface needs to be operated without looking. But why touch screen? Touch is necessary, but screen? If you are keeping your eyes on the road, you are not looking at it.

    The illumination led on the environmental controls on my 8 year old car burned out a while ago. Guess what, I don't care. It is three dials that you can blindly reach and turn where you need them to go. if I want to check the setting, I just run my finger along the indicator of the dial... never taking my eyes off the road.

    Does anyone remember the joke about the "Apple iWheel" controller? Perhaps they are on to something here. Make the edge dynamically textured so you can feel what settings you are on and a simple turn-and-click to select settings.

    Alternatively if we want to keep a flat screen so it can show info during times when it is safe to look... whatever happened to this technology?

    Unfortunately the mass-produced eggs they are trying to replace that go into processed food products are not from chickens that eat farm feed and mill about in the pasture. Instead they are force-fed antibiotics and crammed in together so tight... all to maximize that efficiency more.

    So replace the factory mass produced eggs with something cleaner, while we focus on real traditional farms to produce eggs for eating. The egg on my breakfast sandwich can come from the local farmer's market, while the mayo can use the egg-substitute.

    And factory produced eggs are rather tasteless, and the factory-farms themselves are horrifying. One look at (or better yet, smell of) one of those, and I can totally understand why people go vegan. I like meat wayy too much to consider this.

    However for a slight more expense locally actual-farm raised meat and dairy cannot be beat. (and backyard-raised eggs are even better than that :)

    The "inhibited persons list" is a TSA thing, so why is this relevant in the UK?
