You actually might want to rethink your suit. Stepping "onto" the motorized vehicle probably wouldn't get you anything but scrapes and scratches when you fall off at the next turn..... but getting "into" the vehicle... now there's a patent!
Of course, then you'd be infringing on my patent for taxi cabs.
Easy. If the device in and of itself had mapping software installed for all of oregon (and was up to date), the GPS could get enough satellites to do a "3D position" (that's what mine does) and tells you your elevation above sea level.
Granted, it's still not entirely accurate, but for changes of 20-30 feet, it would be. It could also take into account the direction being driven, to determine which "road" you're on.
Of course, I am currently in Ohio, and we don't have a lot of situations where that would come up.
I don't understand, however, how a broken arm can == deadly force. Let's say I restrain someone and they happen to want to get away from me (through any means necessary)... I'm betting this "martial arts" guy probably didn't use any deadly force, but a combination of his skills and someone without skills = broken arm.....
Better yet, buy something for $41, and pass 2 real and one counterfeit. Try to hide it better amongst the "noise" of the good bills.
One time we used an HP Officejet scanner/printer/inkjet printer to copy the face of a few $1 bills, just to see if people would pick them up. Well, it turns out that someone used one in the cafeteria, and they took it. Amongst all of the days sales, they didn't even notice the paper was wrong, or that there was nothing on the back.
We were pretty tight with them, so we heard about it and gave them a dollar. But we vowed not to do that again, even as a joke.
ummm... that 1g is the skidpad rating, if I'm not mistaken. Most cars are rated (side to side slalom) in G's as to their sticking ability in the turns.
Therefore, a 1g car will hold in a turn better than a.85g car.... Better center of gravity, better tires, better wheelbase... all contribute to this.
Actually, Konami is the primary reason I mod-chipped my original playstation: Gradius Gaiden.
Released overseas only, it's a pretty awesome game. Even on easy, some of the levels just have massive amounts of crap flying at you...
Also, for the PS2, I picked up Gradius 3 and 4. Pretty decent games; if you're used to the SNES version of Gradius 3, get ready for a slightly more difficult challenge.
As well, later this year Konami has Gradius 5 slated for US release. I'm sure they're not making much money on the franchise anymore, but I'm glad to have something new "shooter" wise every few years....
Life Force was a lot of fun. The only real difference between Life Force and Gradius is that when you die in Gradius, you don't just keep on going -- you restart from certain points in the game. Kind of a turn off if you really aren't into the game for a challenge and want to just shoot stuff.
Holy cow! I was just looking through the GM section (only newer cars that I own...) and they want 100$ for the adapter!!! I wonder if it contains more than just a patch into the wiring... because if it didn't, I'd feel terribly ripped off...
However, if it does have to emulate a "changer", I can see where the cost...*gulp*... might be justified...
On the other hand, if I was building an MP3 player for the car, the stock head unit probably wouldn't have the amount of power I'd want... I like my music loud on the commute to and from work. Helps reduce my anger at people who try to cut me off....
Speaking of extreme switches, we've got a 48 porter (we have probably 300 of these things) that, about once a month, reports it's at 150 degrees celsius.
Ummm... The first 5.0 is a V6 (from what I can tell), look at the exhaust exit point on the rear -- All of the 5.0's I've seen have dual straights out the rear, where the V6 has the smaller diameter "turn-down" exhaust out of the driver's side..
I'm not sure about the other one; didn't take the time to look... but correct me if I'm wrong.....
I liked FFX, but I'm betting there was only about 12 hours of actual play time in that whole game. Took us about 40 hours to beat the first run through (stayed up for 2 days straight) and a majority of the time we were "playing", I was watching cutscenes.
Not that they didn't add to the story.... I remember walking around, building up experience etc and walking into the boss fights and totally kicking butt since I was probably way too high up on exp....
If that's true, you better stop posting to slashdot.
'cause someone has done it before.
And you better stop working.
because someone has already done the same job you do.
Really, I have just gotten into playing guitar after playing drums (unpro obviously) and I find the easiest way to learn to do something is to learn something you recognize. I imagine a lot of people would agree.
I know you said you don't enjoy music/painting, but that was kinda wrong..... surrogate for creativity? I think it would be called for some the key to unlocking creativity.
Regarding RA2 under windows2k/XP, you need to do the following:
Install IPX. Install RA2 and any patches etc you may want. Fire up RA2, and under options - networking (I believe) there is a setting that will change your IPX address. Change it, test, rinse and repeat.
We found this solution out at a lan fest once, since some users had XP, and we previosly knew that you could fire up RA2 as a SERVER on a win2k box, but could only connect through winME or lower clients.... hmmmm? So, we played around with that address changer thingy (sorry, I don't feel like firing it up just to get the exact nomenclature...) and it ends up that the games work flawlessly...
Now, if only they'd patch it to get rid of the sometimes random disconnects after 3+ hour games......
For those who are interested, and have a PS/PS2......
I've always loved life force. That was my first Konami shoot everything from an itty bitty spaceship game. Then, after college, I started to investigate other games in the same genre...
The Gradius series is quite good as well. The only real difference between the 2 is that when you die (in Gradius), you don't just re-appear on the screen. You have to fight back through the level (or from the halfway point or so...) Kinda made me not like the series at first, but really gets you going when you keep dying at the same point.
Also, I've acquired Gradius Gaiden (modchip required for ps1/2) through an internet dealer, since Konami decided not to release this game in the US. However, for the PS2, there is Gradius 3 and 4 (on one disc) and I can't stop playing those 2 classics. For those of you who played Gradius 3 on the SNES, be in for a suprise -- some of the levels are somewhat different.....
And, in May, Konami is targeting to release Gradius 5 for the PS2. Hopefully they keep the gameplay similar.... I love these sidescrolling shooters!
Also, check out ThunderForce 3 for the genesis/mega drive, or if you're in for a heck of a challenge, try out Gaiares (genesis again). I spent a lot of time on those two when I owned a genesis.....
Well, then you have the plus of WM9 being more or less "standard", so that you could give a copy of the cd to your family and have them be able to play it with minimal hassle.
My situation doesn't require that right now, so Divx 5.02 it is:)
I have to admit, that may have something to do with the codec. However, last night I compressed a movie - split into 2 - into Divx 5.02 Pro, using 2 pass encoding, 1 hour of compressing over both passes took 2 hours. Add another 5-10 minutes to transform the audio to 256kbit mp3, and it was complete... well, the first half. The bitrate was equivalent - if I recall, around 1350kbps for the video.....
I've got a similar setup to you - XP2100+, 512mb 333ddr cas2 mushkin, and 2x80gb 7200 8mb WD drives striped. I'm just curious if the WME is what is taking so long.....
I would think that would completely depend on the hardware. For instance, if you're using a hub (and I doubt that there are any gigabit hubs out there), you don't want to see utilization much higher (in my experience) than 50-60%, because retransmits after collisions on a busy network will cause the usage rate to climb if everyone is still chatty.
However, we've seen usage rates (peak) on our switches at work as high as 90+ percent. Given, we're pushing 100Mbit from the desktop, through Gigabit links to the Network Operations Center, and from there, into dual or quad gig links to the servers (each).
Ethernet won't fall apart in my opinion, with good equipment. Get a decent switch, or if you're going from machine to machine, put gig cards in with a crossover.
I was perusing various car sites a while ago, looking for fix-it information on my car. I found an interesting thing that someone had done for a kill switch: they integrated a push of the passenger's window "up" button (on the driver's side only) to allow the passlock 2 (GM) signal to the ECM.
Kind of a neat hack, seeing as if you didn't tell anyone, and no one paid close attention as you started the car, they probably wouldn't pick up on the trick. However, one of the dumber things you can do in that situation is post it on the internet for all to see..... Guess that's why you didn't announce your "lock out" until well after you were finished with that type of security.
Kudos as well to you, though -- that was a neat trick. Almost makes me wish I was more into hardware (like I was as a teenager)....

I usually don't have homework with my current employer, but sometimes I feel like I have detention when I need to stay late...
You know, maybe we wouldn't have 1000 comments if people like you wouldn't comment on how the comments suck.
Oh wait....

I'm just curious though...
When these are implemented, and they are hard to get out, would a hammer have much effect?
Although I'd probably look pretty weird taking all of my new clothes out to the garage, and then smacking them with a hammer.
Print Shop -- there's a name I haven't heard in years.
Are they still making updates to that program?

WD40?
Wouldn't that cause weird problems later? I seem to remember that stuff leaves a film... ich...

Alright, my post above babbled a little.
Anyways, the file "time" was 1 hour, the compression total time was about 2 hours and 10 minutes.
I was just a little thrown by your "9 hours" statement.....
Holy cow! 60 minutes?
