    For some cool search news, Nutch .07 just came out - http://nutch.org/ - i'm loading it up on mozdex through next week :)

            This is the combined source code for Quake III Arena and Quake III: Team Arena. It can be used to build the 1.27g point release or the Team Arena release. It contains buildable project files and all related game source code as well as prebuilt tool executables.

    I used to feel bad sometimes using that service as i would normally save 75-80% on groceries.

    It was a bit difficult shopping for items on the list and finding a clerk that knew what was going on, but the savings were worth it!

    The Xbox 360 is an advancement of the existing platform.

    The xbox was the first to market xbox live services and it SMOKES ps2 hands down.

    The xbox was the first to offer true component HDTV and it SMOKES the ps2 hands down.

    First to market is a complete mis-udnerstanding of the market.

    Microsoft is delivering on it's promise, Sony is trying to play the game. simple as that. Just because it worked against Sega when they only had 500 million dollars to support the dreamcast launch i doubt it will work against Microsoft with the 4 billion they plan on having..

    is just a higher density dvd rom. It isn't a format change in itself. HD DVD can be used to store MP3's, that doesn't make them "HD MP3's"

    A standard dual layer dvd can hold ~9 gigs. For the games in the forseeable future that is plenty - especially considering they can have some of the data uncompressed on the hard drive or available on the network as downloadable expansion packs and updates.

    Come to think of it, most of my pc games if not all of them could fit on a dvd.

    Sony is using the PS3 as a tool to push it's hopefull blue-ray format. Microsoft is atleast waiting for a standard for a change.

    7 year and 150k miles later it still runs and the only things i have had to do is put new tires on, change the oil, breaks and about to put some new shocks & struts on.

    Tiberon has been the best car i've ever had. Out of Jeep Wranglers, Jeep grand cherokees, mazda 626's, suburus and others.

    THe problem is you look at brand as stature and you use that to ignore the good qualities about everything else out there. You have probably never owned a Hyundai so you assume they're cheaply made. (granted they have had some bummers but so has intel..)

    You have probably never owned an AMD for the same reason, you believe the hype. You also probably still pay full price for Nike shoes, still wear Girbaud jeans and are afraid to shop at target.

    Can't find value in something that doesn't sound cool?

    Are you a parent? Do you have kids? Do you live in New York? Does it look like Crime is getting lower in your area or did they just find a new way to categorize it?

    Do i agree with clinton? not really.. however us liberals usually have the common sense to form our own opinions instead of pushing more rhetoric to stop the rhetoric.

    My point is they could expand the market beyond there specific systems by using software. If they sold a similar system for HPUX and Solaris then they could reach into the markets where people may actually buy these services instead of simply looking at them as "things"

    Seems like lots of engineering time for something that is basically commodity hardware these days when the focus is the software to begin with.

    You think banks, oil companies, retailers and such would trust an un-official release downloaded off the 'net to be installed on all there mission critical pc's?

    I've been in IT for 11 years and never have we had enough staff to get the job done without really wearing people thin.

    99% of that time was in public companies that shrank even more and cut spending merely to reach promised numbers.

    Corprorate America is so stuck on profit and EPS that they have forgotten HOW to get the job done and what people resources really are.

    As for private companies, i'm not sure what the problem is. For me I didn't like making a mediocre salary at a private company while the owner had a fishing boat, 3 houses, 2 cars, 3 hour lunches, 1 month vacations and such and we couldn't hire any help?? Yeah, if you become that successfull more pwoer to you, but that doesn't mean you can't soundly run your business in an honest to goodness fashion.

    I guess it goes back to "me me me" syndrome and the fact America doesn't care as now that i'm thinking about it ALL TYPES of career paths constantly preach there isn't enough supply yet we have tons of people working in jobs they hate and tons of people WHO AREN'T WORKING.

    And fandango is worth it. Saves me an hour or two of time for popular movies that i can spend having a nice dinner with the family or something else on.

    I pay more for a soda at a CONVENIENCE store than a box store/grocery store, so why wouldn't that apply to other services that offer a CONVENIENCE.

    Just because it's online doesn't mean it's any cheaper to offer than paying someone 6 bucks to site in a "bullet proof box" as last time i checked engineers, sysadmins, webmasters and developers were a LOT more than 6 bucks an hour salary.

    I dunno about you, but ease of use and functionality is what matters to me.

    OpenOffice just works.

    I use it for my busiess, at home and for my campaign staff.

    I'm not even sure how your points are relevant to the use of StarOffice and the purpose sun is trying to fill with this application.

    Does it run Oracle? Can i run JDeveloper? How stable is JDK 1.5 and Eclipse? Does JDK 1.5 even work?

    How much memory can my 64bit system use on a 32bit os?

    How stable is the new GCC 4.0?

    It seems to me only have one major vendor for most of its hardware lines that is why OSX is able to be stable and clean.. if they STILL have performance problems why do they continue to push outdated hardware and expensive prices?
