There's nothing in the Apple copy protection scheme that prevents me from installing their Pro software on more than one box. All their activation number does is allow me to use the software, it doesn't inform Apple that I've installed it. It does add some hassle, but it's a one time thing, and is pretty much standard across the industry (Adobe's Photoshop has done the same thing for years).
IANAL, but if I were going to invest time in graduate school for the purpose of advancing my career, a law degree would be my first choice. With your CS background, you should be able to Ace the logic and reasoning section on the LSAT.
They can make us focus on only part of a story. Dan Rather is resigning in part due to the controversy surrounding the bogus documents he used in a story sbout Bush's military record. Although most people agree that the documents were forged, hardly anyone says that the underlying story (that Bush did not meet his National Guard responsibilities) was false.
In short, Rather got the story right, but all anyone talks about is the forged documents.
Bill Clinton said he would sign the so-called "partial-birth" abortion ban into law if it contained an exception for where the health of the mother was threatened. The GOP controlled House and Senate never presented him with such a bill.
What's your view on the pill, there are a substantial number of pro-lifer's out there who think the pill should be illegal because it prevents the implantation of a fertilized egg (obviously the pill would have to fail for some reason for this to occur).
Abortion may be wrong, but so is having that belief while cutting off funds to programs that help single moms. It's wrong to condemn abortion, and ostracize women who are single and pregnant.
It's wrong to say that abortion is murder, but allow it when the woman is a victim of rape or incest. The clear message of that policy is that a woman can have an abortion if she didn't do anything "wrong."
It's wrong to use abortion as a sole means of birth-control, but it is more wrong to punish women who are responsible(have sex, use contraception), but have an unplanned pregnancy by removing the abortion option.
The abortion debate is one of definition, some think life starts at conception, some think life starts at birth. You want to find the middle ground between those two, read Blackmun's opinion in Roe v. Wade.
Okay, what follows is one of my most embarassing driving moments.
I was having a bad morning, and on my way to work, someone cut me off. In a foul mood already, I thought, I'll show this guy, and slammed on the accelerator. To my shock, after I removed my foot from the accelerating, the car was still accelerating. I checked the accelerator and found it was stuck all the way to the floor! I eventually stopped the car by turning off the engine(which I guess was the wrong thing to do).
Upon inspection, I saw what the culprit(aside from my poor judgement) was. When I hit the gas HARD, I got the accelerator lodged under the floor mat, which kept the pedal pushed to the floor.
I still have the car, and the floor mat is still on the driver's side; I realized it was my reckless action that led to the unsafe condition. I can only recreate this condition by SLAMMING on the accelerator, which is easy enough to avoid.
Why would it be illegal to air the movie, but not illegal for the movie to be in the theater?
Striking down poorly written laws that mean well, and are politically popular is the epitome of ballsiness. That is exactly what they did to the law that tried to make simulated child porn illegal.
McCain-Feingold isn't perfect, but I'm not sure it silences any political speech (just ask the Swift Boat Veterans for "Truth" (quotes added))
The original Mac had 128K of RAM The second Mac had 512K of RAM,
you sir, are not a true fan!
I think the iMac is marketed to individual, not corporate consumers. Hard-core gamers would probably not be satisfied with any machine that met the iMac's design criteria (in this case small case and quiet).
I agree that the LWV is on the wrong side of this issue. I don't buy your contention that the reason they are on the wrong side is that they have become tainted by Diebold money from their association with groups who took that money.
LWV's Mission statement:
The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
Clearly the LWV is sensitive to changes in the election process that could disefranchise a group of voters. That they agree with the Federation of the Blind's argument does not demonstrate that the LWV is "in bed" with Diebold.
Concerning your last statement, you are not asserting that politics are involved, rather that Diebold's money is causing these organizations to take unreasonable positions.
I can tell you that IMHO where the LWV is involved in this debate, money is not the issue.
The submitter appears to have some issue with the League of Women's Voters, an organization whose only crime is buying the arguments of the groups who have been tainted by Diebold money. If I didn't read the editorial, I would have been under the wrong impression that The League had taken money from Diebold.
The rumor is that the next generation of Apple displays will ditch the innovative, cool and only used by Apple ADC connector, and replace it with the more standard DVI interface...We'll see.
Don't trust the science behind this story!
They'll rock the Enterprise OSS or not!
Tiger Direct should be wexpecting a cease and desist letter from the Tiger Electronics division of Hasbro, which has been around forever!
"Browser company seeks new CEO"
They also have a suggestion for "stupid republican quote" widget, that will probably be easier to do.

female-dog (why the hyphen?) = bitch.
If you don't like the word bitch, try "complain"
Replacing a word with the wrong definition of the word is sexing stupid!

Though, the only reason anyone cares about USB is because of the original iMac, the first computer to require users to use USB.
What do you get upgrading from 95 to 98?
What do you get upgrading from 98 to ME (I think you lost stuff here)
Only the XP upgrade was truly compelling, but I know people who bought every one!
Let's compare updates
Windows 95 -> Windows 98 -> Win ME-> Win XP
OSX 10.0 -> OSX 10.1 -> OSX 10.2 -> OSX 10.3
Now I can't imagine why anyone would have "upgraded" to Win ME, but I'll put my 10.1 -> 10.2 upgrade up against that.
Windows charges for updates to its systems as well, the small # of features added in each update make it not worth the cost.
Mac OS X updates typically offer a compelling list of added features and improved system speed.
The OSX full price is comparable to the Windows upgrade price $129 vs. $99. People with 2-5 Macs can buy a Family Plan license for $179.
What compelling feature was added to Win ME that made you want to upgrade from Win 98.
Also, I can sell my old system software on EBay, since I am not upgrading, an upgrading windows user could not.
The LWV does not support any particular candidate.

Certainly there's been a silent computer animated movie.
Excellent point.
