Oddly enough, I frequently get a headache when playing various incarnations of Half-life on a 21" monitor that I've never gotten on a 17". But I think the problem was more glare-related than desynched brainwaves, because when I cut the lights in the room, the headaches went away...
I first got mod points shortly after I got 50 karma. Kept getting 'em every few days or so.. then when I was down at 48 karma for a while, I never got them. Now I'm back at 50 and I've been getting them again...
I think the blame here is mislaid.
Manufacturers' support is usually very, very good. It's the resellers that provide the bad support. Lots of OEMs are required to provide support for Windows because they preinstall it. This is where the support goes to hell. Think Best Buy. Think Office Max. Have you ever known anyone who's had a pleasant experience with Best Buy's customer service? If you buy a system from them, you have to go to them for support. If you buy a system, say, direct from Dell, guess what? Dell's support is phenomenal!

Watching these can create the counter-rotating spirals illusion. Watch the zoomout, staring at the exact center, then look at the back of your hand or something.
Now they just need a REAL "mood house", where the color of the paint reflects your state of mind. You know, the house turns bright and color when you're in a good mood, to dark and evil when you're in a bad one... then life will be just like Black & White!
Microsoft is working on a new system, code-named Hailstorm, where they plan to tie in credit card information, plane reservations, e-purchases, and just about everything else into one giant account, stored on Microsoft's servers, and accessed via Passport. American Express and Ebay are already in on the deal along with several other large companies. Here's an URL.
My understanding was that the teen suicide rate in Japan is higher because of the pressure from the schools to succeed. Japanese students (that I've met, anyway) on the whole place MUCH more importance on academic acheivement than the average US student. In the US, failing a class sucks, but it's not that big a deal and it happens all the time. In Japan, failing a class is public humiliation, a life-shattering event.
So if they find a way to turn it off... and cells stop dying.. damn it, haven't they seen Akira? When cells reproduce uncontrollably without dying IT AIN'T PRETTY!
This is also another strike against the possible inclusion of Linux preloads on machines, because last I knew there is no censoring software for Linux. Also, aren't Dell and Compaq, two of the biggest PC distributers around, both based in Texas? Since both are "PC Sellers", esp. Dell, who sells direct, won't that affect prices (system+Windows+Censorware) all around the country?
No kiddding. Companies, especially big corporations will fire you for no particular reason, especially if you're younger than most of your peers. Your qualifications and skill don't count for shit with the corporations. I speak from experience here.
Balmer declared Linux as MS's #1 threat. Linux must really have them running scared to for them launch the massive anti-Linux/anti-Open Source campaign we're starting to see. Count on MS hitting on all fronts: marketing, legal, as well as just spreading FUD in general. They're going to fight any and every way that they can to maintain their current position, and nothing they say or do against Linux will surprise me in the least. This is going to be a tough, under-handed, no-holds-barred fight. It really has come down to Microsoft vs. Linux.
All I can say is thank God for Nintendo, who realise that you can have a great game without blood and guts.
A ruling like this, if it went through, would do a lot to take nearly all of the First-Person perspective games into a much narrower market. Personally, though, I'm getting a little tired of those. How long since we had a really good non-FPP action game on the PC? Or a console other than Nintendo's, for that matter.
When I went to school, we had a name for these kids... "Tattletales". I can think of many, many instances in which someone "told" on someone else, simply to get them in trouble. In some cases, the tattler was punished when his tales were proven to have no basis in reality. The fact that they're now government-sponsored, largely unaccountable, and their words are accepted as divine providence scares the hell out of me.
Simple. I've said it before, I'll say it again. Apple has more money than the people they're going to squash. Therefore, Apple wins. End of story. That's why people HAVE to listen to them.
Revolution O.S. was made by J.T.S. Moore, who was totally unfamiliar with the open source community when he started the project. "It wasn't my idea," Moore said. "...he jokingly suggested I make a documentary about the history of Linux."
What I find interesting (Disclaimer: The following is an acknowledged dip into scifi/pseudoscience. I already know there's no REAL evidence of any of this. Nevertheless...) is a few reports that have surfaced where one twin will feel a phantom pain when the other hurts himself, as if they were linked somehow. I wonder if this sort of effect, assuming it exists at all, would be even more pronounced in clones, where the physical side is exactly the same.
Odd isn't it, how an article like this, clearly aimed to cause unrest among corporations considering adopting Linux, comes out right after Microsoft names Linux the #1 threat for this year?

For those that have read the Hyperion series, anyone else like me hoping that this is the beginning of the true datasphere?

Obviously you've never been there, friend.

Sure enough, the first anti-Microsoft gets modded up.

Is this GeoWorks in any way related to the quasi-nifty PC GUI from a long time back?

I wish I had moderator points so I could mod that up. For some reason that really cracked me up.
Wow, I thought I was the only person left in the world that still listened to S3Ms.
