If they're big projected moneymaker is licensing the engine rather than selling copies of a game, it doesn't seem completely implausible. Also, if this or the next generation of console are platforms they're aiming at then portability may have been a feature planned from the start.
Of course, this is all just idle speculation at this point.
That's an interesting point, actually. I hadn't thought of the fact that nostalgia for earlier online games may be an emerging factor in MMO design. It parallels the aesthetic incest of much of the fantasy genre as well.
Seriously, this isn't 2001. Look at the game then look at other games of the same generation and tell me this isn't a cynical cashing in on the franchise.
It's a natural part of human cognition to take a limited amount of information and try and arrange this into a coherent system, making guesses at what lies beyond. The less information there is available, the more guesswork is required. The results get silly very quickly.
There's a huge difference between what the values of most cultures are and what they pretend they are. Of course 'The Lexus vs. The Sword' doesn't sound quite right, I suppose. Or at the least wouldn't play to the audience very well.
It gives new meaning to the term 'Killer App'.

Like World of Warcraft, only brown. With a franchise that has had so much material created for it, there's no excuse for art direction this abysmal.
That would be pretty ironic I guess.
Maybe they're just used to Slashdot stories about things that are stupid.
It's aesthetic. Some patterns just please us better than others.

Wait until they show up in 'news' footage in two years.
Apple selling your dissent back to you at twice the price! Film at 11!
Maybe that's because there's nothing in Georgia worth blowing up.
Finally the democrats have found someone else to blame for their own ineffectualness.
