there are lots of GOTY editions of awesome games to keep you playing for another few years. Mass Effect games, fallout, dragon age, etc. you can buy them cheap with all DLC included
other than nintendo fanboys it was people like me buying the wii fit and EA Sports Active and that's it. the fit board sucked and now i have an x-box with kinect
I've played Mass Effect on the x-box and my laptop. i don't care how good the PC version looks, i like the x-box version better. the controller is A LOT easier than the keyboard
strategy games are a different story, but action games are better on consoles
ive looked at TV prices for myself and others and in the june/july/august time frame there is a lot of discounting. usually manufacturers will run specials with a retailer at a time over a few weeks
you need to buy a 3D TV for the most money even though there is little media for it and even though they will be a lot cheaper in a few years when or if there is more media just to be ready for the media. remember you won't be able to buy a 3D TV in a few years when the 3D media arrives so you have to buy it now just to be ready for the arrival
anyone remember maximum PC 15 years ago? they were saying the same thing. buy expensive crap before there is any media just to "be ready". like the hardware is not going to be cheaper when the media arrives. i see the same nonsense now about the upcoming 4K TV's
years ago i used to have laserjet 4's jam all the time. i was given a tip by the repair guy to switch to HP toner. magically the jams went away.
the cheap toner made all the moving parts dirty and a guy with some special cleaner would come in and clean the printer. i saw the bottle but can't remember the name.
i haven't had a printer at home for years now and hardly miss it
photos? - CVS or any of the online places and either have them shipped or go pick them up. $.19 cents a photo can't be beat if i need to print a few pages every few months i'll do it at work a big job like 50 pages i'll pay the $7 to fedex/kinko. but i only need that once a year or so
what is there to print that people see a need to buy these things for home use other than for a home business?
vmware still has issues with all the I/O going through the hypervisor. the blades have local storage for the OS
there are still applications like Cognos and others that say that if you run them in vmware then use a separate physical server due to the I/O demands and the fact that you have to specially code around the oversubscribing feature of vmware

and TV's are 1080p and will be for years to come. no need to build a super powerful super expensive console anymore
and my consoles double as blu ray players, music players, youtube on TV, watching movies from USB stick, etc
